I have been enjoying some time off before we kick off 2 shows on NYE in NJ.

Thank you sir for the most generous offer to help. I've been getting caught up on much belated Christmas shopping and other things. First admission, my speakon cables are inexpensive cables off of Amazon. So, likely my inconsistency has been the cheapo cables.

So how do you like that combo? I’ve been thinking about getting the exact set up for my new club rig.

I also have the MG800 & NC-212. I use it for larger stages (outdoors, big clubs, events), and it's great. Nice full sound, plenty of heft/weight in the notes, well-defined.

For smaller indoor stages I use the MG350 & MG12-TV. Also another great pairing for size/weight and the cradled head. Convenient.
I miss the second channel for some drive when using the MG35, so I just picked up the 4OTF OD pedal. So now I find myself building a pedalboard centered around the 4OTF and the MG Preamp/DI. Oops.

If I have a Genzler Bass array series 2 410 and a Mesa 800D and I’m looking to add some more more bass array cabs, what would my best options be? Right now I’m mainly considering another 410 or a 212, but I’d be open to any recommendations. Benefit of the 212 is I’d get more variety when using a single cab, but I noticed there was a sensitivity mismatch between the 410 and 212 (104db vs 100db), so idk if that would cause any issues when combining them.

Thought you folks would get a kick out of this photo - approx 45 years apart. Genzler 2x10 "Intro 90 bass amp" - typically a 1 x 15 but this is an odd duck I found recently. The Magellan 350 head and bass array cab is the current generation.

I think having the alignment of the array would help any combo you come up with. I have the BA410 and when the day comes to add an additional cabinet I'll most likely go with the slanted BA210. If I were in your shoes I'd personally go with a 2nd BA410 but....that's just me.

The ultimate solution would be another of the 410's IMO. That would kick some serious butt.

The Intro 90 combo was a great combo, especially for the time. That said, we have all learned a lot over the years, especially listening to what players are asking for. The aux input and headphone output were pretty novel features back then, though admittedly dated by using the terms CD and TAPE. Maybe it will become a vintage collector's item due to the names?

Thanks for using our gear. Certainly another 410 will give you so much more of what you already like, but you could consider the BA2-210-3SLT to use under your current cab and gor for the 610 vibe. That also gives you a smaller cab if that is a need sometimes. Also with the slant cab on the bottom, the entire stack will tilt back and up at you with a 6 degree slant.

Hey folks, I'm posting this here instead of in a general thread because I'm leaning toward ordering a pair of BA-10-2 cabs. I know that they're not good enough for Metallica at the EnormoDome, but if I'm doing the math right then they should be capable of about 130 dB with a 500W amp... 300 watts handling each at 97 dB sensitivity. Are they loud enough to play with real bands or not? Seems like most folks here would say no. I don't understand.

I can't really have a cabinet over 20 lbs (doctor's orders), so at 19 lbs each these seem like my best bet.

This is a really expensive purchase for me and I need them to last for years, not be outgrown - what else should I be considering? I'm afraid of GR Bass reliability and would prefer to be able to buy from Sweetwater/Musiciansfriend for the 0% financing.

I really like the idea of having better horizontal dispersion plus the slant front cabs actually pointing toward my ears - traditional cabs sound/feel stupid to me, with no definition unless you have the speaker pointed directly at your ears.

Right now I have a heavy 1x12 with a 4 ohm Celestion BN12-300S and that's loud enough for anything I do, but it's too heavy at ~30 lbs and it only sounds good in one narrow beam.

If you are mainly playing Bars/Clubs when your rig has to carry Venue a pair of 2x10 will be fine

Most Theater or Festival Gigs should have FOH again you will easily have enough for stage volume (with 500 watt amp)

Sounds like you are limited in your options due to weight restriction. The good news is a pair of these would probably be fine for what you are needing. I have the BA410 and one thing I have always noticed is I can run that cab at a lower volume and still hear everything fine compared to previous 410 cabs I’ve owned. I chalk it up to the engineering and dispersion of the cabinet. My band always has PA support but I guarantee I could do the majority of my gigs with the same setup you are looking at. Sometimes I think my BA410 laughs at me with how little I push it on a lot of my gigs.

Just to be clear, the BA-10-2 is a single 10" woofer with an array of 2" high frequency drivers, so I'm looking at a total of "only" 2 10" woofers for the stack.

Mathematically it's louder than I would ever have any interest in being near - and frankly unsafe for anyone to be near for a length of time... and yet, almost nobody here plays with a rig that small. What am I missing?
