Genzler Kinetix 800 vs Mesa D800

I had both, I kept the Kinetix but I still LOVE the D800+, feature wise I mean how can you beat the D800+?

They offer such a different sound though and the Kinetix was just scratching my itch.

Tube pedals (I have/had a Neptunium, Nobellium, Underground Accelerator, More, Noble) in front of a D800+ will not get you there in terms of what the the Kinetix does.

Welp, I got a good deal on the Magellan 800 and pulled the trigger! Your all at fault, at least that's what I'm going to tell the wife, LOL.

I’d love an explanation of this as well. Not doubting you at all, just wondering for myself how close the Kinetix will get to the feel of a real tube amp…especially compared to a D800 or WD800. I own the WD and the Magellan 800 for reference.

The Kinetix is just a different beast altogether. I still use the Subway D800+ and will most likely never part with it but the Kinetix just really shines with the EQ flat and the tube gain up high. It just has a certain feel and grind to it that I haven't heard from another amp. Having said that, you CAN dial in some very comparable tones to other amps....For example I've tried to match my Subway D800+, Ashdown ABM 500 and Ampeg V4B and have been pretty successful dialing up all 3 with the Kinetix.

Following. My D-800 stopped working properly at my last gig, the master volume was intermittent. I'm sending it in for service, but it was my main gigging amp. I have a bunch of amps, including a Magellan, an SVT (hasn't left the house in years), an Aguilar DB 750 (likewise), a vintage B15, a Monique, an old GK 800RB (I gigged with it in the '80s), and a couple of other heads, but liked the Mesa Boogie for great tone and portability. I set the tone flat and use the voicing to get the right EQ. Usually no pedalboard, just straight in. I bought a Kinetix, it's on the way, but I won't be able to A/B since the D-800 is not working.

Amp designers: would it be difficult to add a USB or 9V power supply on the back of the amp? There's a Tuner Out but the tuner needs power.

Amp users: would you use a USB or 9V power supply on the back of the amp? For a tuner? To charge your phone? To power something plugged into the Aux input or effects loop? Another reason?

My Kinetix came yesterday, I just had time to make sure it was working before I packed up today for a gig at Scotty's in Richmond. It sounds pretty good so far.

I do that with my WD 800. It has a USB power out on the back. I use it to power my multi-effect unit I manly use as a turner but its there if I wanna get silly

Some designers have in fact done this for a while.

I find myself drooling over the Kinetix a lot recently. I have owned a GB Shuttlemax 9.2 since 2011 and have loved all sounds its capable of. It did take some time to get comfortable with all of the controls and sounds that it's capable. The simplicity of the Kinetix in comparison is very appealing. Is it worth giving the Kinetix a shot or should I stick with what I have?

Now I have the Kinetix and love the simplicity and tone, and of course portability. My studio set up is still an Ampeg V4B and Ampeg cab but I gig the Genzler gear.

I still haven't tried the Kinetix, but I did pick up a Magellan 800 and have been thrilled with it. I havent gigged with anything else since getting it. Hopefully one day I get to take the Kinetix for a spin. All of the clips ive heard of it sound phenomenal!

I’ve done a couple of shows since getting my Kintetix a couple of weeks weeks ago. It’s definitely on another level….IMO of course.
