Genzler Magellan Pre... looks tasty

Sorry, I have a passive Fender Jazz bass and I had been using the Sadowsky preamp pedal. It's actually still in my chain right before the Magellan, but I really don't use it. I'm going to mess with it a little bit more. Potentially just "on" with very little or no boosting.

As much as I like the Sadowsky preamp, (I usually just boost the bass a bit and cut the top end using the VTC), it's probably a bit redundant if you're using the Genzler.

Tbh an maybe I'm wrong thinking this if I get a pre amp pedal I'm going to go for a little more diff tone to blend. Just me I do like this tho for those who love the genzler DI an I won't say I won't like it one day either! Adding that much more sculpting on that contour is narly

So here my question in terms of shaping tone that's not what a end of chain pedal is supposed to do that more for and EQ type pedals like the the empress EQ or DCX pedals like this is best for making adjustments to the room you're playing in. Am I correct?

Would a BOSS A/C power supply work okay. It's a 9 volt supply and should be low noise. Having a hard time finding a 12-18 volt power supply which if I'm reading correctly is preferred. The online manual mentions 9 volt is okay if I'm not mistaken.

Hello Genzler people,
I have recently purchased a Nu Classic 212 and am awaiting its arrival tomorrow. I am currently downsizing my rig and am selling an old tube amp. (I'm getting older and my backs feeling it)!
My question is if the MG 350 would be sufficient to hang with a 2 guitar classic rock outfit. Loud but nothing too crazy. Or should I get the MG 800 and be done with it. I've gone down the rabbit hole trying to find answers and thought why not just go to the source (you guys) I would really appreciate any input. Oh! I have a Crash box 4 on the way too so the lack of overdrive would not be an issue, or would it?!

This one is just about the preamp. In any case, I've been using the MG350 head for years in various settings. It's been fine for anything from small intimate gigs to big outdoor stages. However, in larger contexts, I'll run it with multiple cabinets to get its full power. I do sometimes use an 800 watt Mesa head if I really need the juice.

Regarding overdrive, I don't really miss it, but I have a range of pedals for that, including the 4 on the floor.

Just been through the whole Preamp/DI thing. I have a Magellan 800. Tried a bunch of Darkglass (Infinity, Vintage Ultra, B7K Ultra, Microtubes X Ultra), Sansamp (dUg, BDDI, BD Programmable,VT Bass), EBS Microbass III, Ampeg SCR (SGT not available here for a while!) and Magellan Preamp DI, all through the "Aux in" on the 800 to keep the test fair. Would have kept the Magellan Preamp DI but liked the versatility of the Darkglass Infinity, which gave a sound close to the Magellan and offered three presets at my feet. Sent all the others back.
Wasn't truly happy with Infinity when comparing sound to my 800 so purchased Two Notes ReVolt. Not my cup of tea at all. Nothing sounded like the 800! Have now repurchased Magellan Preamp (which I should have kept in the first place, duh!!) and 4 on the floor for that bit of grit. In my opinion, the best sound by far. Sounds just like the 800 and I now have the overdrive as well. Job done. Jeff & Co. absolutely know their stuff!
