Genzler Magellan Pre... looks tasty

I came from a Shuttle 6.2 which was clean and very responsive without being sterile. In contrast I find the Magellan to have a baked in ‘wooliness’ that no amount of knob twiddling would alleviate. It’s almost like the Genzler folks borrowed some dna from the Streamliner trying to make the Magellan more ‘tubey’. Additionally, neither contour flavor does anything for me so I just leave them off.
I haven’t used the re/Q but I’m assuming because it’s just an eq it wouldn’t have any of the baked in tone the Magellan has. Plus it’s got a three band mid and a low pass filter. Nice!
Interesting! Sounds like Contour A is the slap switch, and Contour B the thump button. Pretty cool.
Nate is an awesome player and his other Genzler demos are great and very informative. I ordered mine!
Just when I thought I was happy with my SAPBDDI. The aux-in and headphone-out makes this a really compelling practice and gigging tool. Thanks for complicating my life @agedhorse !

@wagdog --- Thank you for your comments and glad that the former GB Shuttle worked well for you. Just wanted to comment that with our Contour Circuitry, both on the Magellan amps and the new MG-PRE-PEDAL, that when the Contour controls are in the full "off" setting, these circuits are completely out of the signal chain. And with the EQ controls at noon position, the pedal delivers a flat response.
I hope this info might be useful.
Very nice. Finally a pre that has aux input, headphone out, and a sweepable mid control. I'm definitely going to check this out.
Looks very interesting. I have powered cabs so this should pair well with them.
While we’re talking about Genzler pedals .. did the Crash Box replace the 4 On The Floor or is it an an addition to the lineup?

Regarding your question, no both pedals do different things and are current models. The Crash Box4 is a Classic Distortion pedal, with a wide variety of textures, and the 4 ON THE FLOOR, is an Overdrive pedal, which is more mild in it texture and harmonic complexity. Many users with the 4-OTF pedal use it as an "always on" choice, and have 4 various gears to choose from.
The Crash Box pretty much starts where the 4 ON THE FLOOR leaves off.
Either or both compliment the new MG-PRE-PEDAL nicely on any pedal board.

Wow, you and I couldn't have had a more opposite experience with the Genzler Magellan amp... to me it sounds like a high-end, sonically neutral DI box when everything is set "flat." Was yours broken, perhaps?

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but I can't think of many DIs that include a cab sim. It's not a common feature as far as I can tell, and I would actually prefer to see more with a cab sim on the XLR.

This does not have a tube, correct? I was thinking this would like my mg800 but in pedal form.
Probably not much advantage to using my genzler rig and having this on my pedalboard..?..

I got one on order the same day I saw it come up. I've been waiting to buy a preamp DI until this came along.
I might have to get a 4OTF to go along with it later.

Just to be clear, none of the Magellan amps or this new PRE/DI pedal use tubes.
Owning almost every genz benz head there was, I guess I missed that one.
I love the sound of the mg800 and mg212t and use a tube DI to FOH so I guess it is kind of moot anyway.
