German Co. TechSoundSystem...How Good Are They???

Any one heard of these guys they are now known as TECAMP.de, THEY HAVE A DISCONTINUED CLASSIC 212 one speaker faces forward a one in the middle of cab that according to harmony central reviews was dynomite. Any info would help. Link Removed

i use tech-soundsystems and now tecamp gear for years. they build very good equipment. i especially like their cabinets. the 212 plays in the same league as the glockenklang double. very impressive for a 2x12 cabinet. if you find one for a good price then don´t hasitate.

btw: have you guys heard of their new puma-amps? they sound incredible and deliver 1000watts at 2,8kg (~5pounds).

They're awesome. I just wish they'd sell just the preamp, so you could do your own poweramp with a Powersoft Digimod 1500 module (for 300+ Euros) or make your cabs active. All their lightweight amps use Digimod modules anyway, so you might save some money that way.

Tecamp has two 212", the S (small) series and the M (medium) series.

Which one do you compare to the Double from Glock ?

The double was something I considered since I'm already a Glock user but the S212 looks so easy to transport.

I have a TechBassLine set up. That was what he ( Thomas, the owner) called the company before he changed the name to TechSoundSystem. My set up consists of two 2-12 cabs and the PepMan preamp. It's one of the most Hi-Fi sounding things I've ever played through! I actually heard it at The NAMM show from a distance and "followed my nose/ears" to the source of the amazing sound I was hearing. I ended up signing on as an endorsor but the company wasn't very motivated or equipted to set up a real distribution network in the US so the line never took off.

I keep going round and round about selling my rig. I've used it probably a grand total of 20 times live because right after I picked it up, I started playing heavier music and have never really gone back to a style where I would need the level of clarity that this brand can achive.

i refer to the medium-size cabinet. i have not yet heard the s-size cab yet but i am quite sure it will sound as good as the m-size dab but with a little less deep-end.

I found a distributor at about an hour drive from home so I may be able to listen to a S210 and a M212 in the coming weeks. Unfortunatly, the S212 is not in stock.

If it happens, I'll try to bring my Glock head and Quattro to compare.

That S212 is realy interesting on the paper. It's just a bit disapointing that the look and design has changed.

The new design (Tecamp) is realy less apealing to me... and my wife.

I did an a/b between the Tecamp 2x12 Neo a Hevos Power Set (1x15 & 2x10) and the Epi 2x12 Neo.
The Hevos Power Set has very strong and biiiig lows but lacks a bit definition (IMO).
The Tec 2x12 and the Epi 2x12 were a bit less full in the deep lows but had (both of them) great low mids, punchy and fast. The Epi was slightly fuller and more balanced than the Tec, which, on the other hand, had great mids that - I'm sure - will cut in the mix very well. Plus, the weight of the Tec and the Epi is a big pro. Haven't had the chance to play the Tec on a gig, but it's definitely a great sounding cab.
