Double Bass German Cut away spotted

Paul, Trey's currently my favorite new player. I heard him with Tierney this summer at the Mammoth Lakes festival, and heard his gorgeous sound for the first time. If you check out some of her samples, you can see how great it sounds on record. Kevin also backs up Shelby Lynne and seems to alternate with Tierney. The trio was already existing before she came along and they play together unbelievably well. Do you know what bass Trey's playing on? If so, I'll take one to go!

The Framus ply cutaways are popular amongst the non-jazz crowd. You seem them quite a bit in european Rockabilly, Roots Music type bands.

I think many of the old Framus ply basses had style. They had cool bindings and inlays, etc. Some were very Art-Deco style. Cool stuff I think.

Interesting coincidence that this dead thread should spring to life the day after I repaired a Framus Cutaway! Somebody dropped it and broke the glue bond in the neck pocket. :(

It came in wearing what looked to be its original green canvas bag with a drawstring around the bottom - kind of a nice period piece overall... :)

My Framus is more of a blonde, a result of an early '80s daft Deft refin. not sure if the drinking accessories are original, certainly the elvis head scroll is not........at least not the gold sequin jumpsuit collar.....
