German Warwick Streamer $$ 4

Hey everyone, just after some opinions and advice on the German warwick streamer $$ 4 string. There doesn't seem to be many of these around and therefore not many reviews. I'm really after an streamer stage 1 or spector euro but been offered a streamer $$ in a trade deal so wondered if with all the knobs and switches if you can get
Close to the p/j sound of the stage 1 with the $$?

well I've got a corvette $$ which has the same electronics, so I'll comment on the sound as opposed to ergonomics or build quality. it's basically a dry, focused, somewhat dark sound. it's a deeper, smoother, more polite sound than other two-humbucker basses such as EBMM, although it can get kinda raunchy with the switches in the down position. the pickup placement gives you a lot of sweet spots. it does a big, scooped impression of a P bass, and an edgy J bass, but it doesn't beat either of those basses at their own game. soloing the bridge pickup does not, in my opinion, give you a viable Stingray tone. like most "Swiss army" basses, it's better to just view it on its own terms because it has its own unique strengths. it's an awesome studio bass because it has so many different settings, and it seems to sound good on recordings with hardly any tweaking. it has a perfect balance of smooth and edgy that makes the notes sound crystal clear without being too bright.

outside the studio, my experiences with it have been more hit-or-miss. it sometimes gets lost in a full band because it's somewhat lacking in brute force mid frequencies. this is most noticeable up past the 5th fret or so. the notes between the nut and the 5th fret are pretty impressive. up above the 12th fret can be a bit harsh.

to finally answer your actual question, I would say that it can kinda sorta do a p/j sound, depending on how picky you are. you can approximate it by running the neck pickup in humbucker mode and the bridge in single coil mode. to me it's not really p/j, but for some folks it's close enough.
