Last time I was in theatre for the insertion of a stent I was on the table under a sheet naked yet again. i told the nurses not to peek under the sheet. They asked why not and I replied "You'll see the worst case of Smallcox you ever saw!! " They laughed which endeared them to me. LOL

Now that Turkey Day is over, I have a question for my esteemed old farts oops I mean colleagues.
As some of you know I live in Alaska. Rural remote Alaska. You either fly or catch a boat to get to my town.
I've been building a collection over the years of Peavey "silver fin" combos--both bass and guitar combos.
I've been looking longer for the Peavey Basic Combo. It's very popular and not easy to find online.
Well, I decided to look on Craigslist and found a couple in the Washington and Oregon area. But I have no way to meet the guy or test the amp. I've asked them both if they have eBay accounts so I could buy the amp with buyer protection.
No answers back.
Any suggestions? I don't want to see these two slip away, they're in very good condition. I will only buy one of them by the way.

Write them back and ask if PayPal will work, not EBay. PayPal they only need an email address, their option to register and direct deposit into a bank account or receive a secure guaranteed check (explain this to them). EBay is messy and not meant for this type of transaction, this would put them off and they would likely not respond.

Haha, it's the wife's turn at the butt broom and camera probe. I told her when she got the first knock on the door not to get up after. Less that 4 minutes after she did "that look" was on her face! LOL.......wait I have to do the laundry cleanup why didn't she listen to me?

Hi Ric426. My wife got both her eyes done years ago. Each operation took 5 minutes. The surgeon and staff prayed before each surgery. Very moving.
They did one eye at a time. She was supposed to leave the patch on overnight but by 7:00 that night she was using her new eyeballs.
Total time: 3 days, one day for orientation and one day for each eye. The prep work for the surgery took longer than the actual surgery.
She sees excellent now.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments about cataract surgery. My wife was diagnosed with several severe and untreatable degenerative eye conditions a year ago and I've learned more than I ever wanted to know about eye diseases. I'm not really too concerned about my cataract surgery, but this will be my fifth surgery in the past year, each one for unrelated problems, so I'm a little tired of being in recovery mode. This sounds like it'll be the quickest recovery except for the restrictions on doing anything strenuous for 2 or 3 weeks. Hope we don't get any heavy snowfalls for a while.

Well, just an update on the newest member of my vintage Peavey silver fin combo collection. Turns out the young lad had an eBay account after all!
So, I'm' buying it from him through eBay. I'm probably paying twice it's market value, but it's so clean the grill cloth and plastic still look brand new and have a sheen to them.
Evidently this was a studio bass amp and was never used live. So I'm very glad to get it! And the Basic 112 is a perfect size for small gigs and has a line out for FOH. Happy ending!

EDIT: Meet my new little friend I lost in the mid 80's. I loved this amp. It was so portable yet large enough to do small gigs. The seller is shipping tomorrow via USPS tracking/insured. Very portable and capable for a small amp....
