Madness.....:bawl:

Muddy Waters is the man, he's timeless. Take WC's physical comedy in the context of the 30's.

I saw Mr. Waters at the Capitol Radio Jazz Fest at Alexander Palace eons ago.....

Accompanied by....Mr. Pinetop Perkins.....Mr. Johnny Winter...Mr. James Cotten (The rest of the "Elite Band" as described at the time....)...

Messrs. Berry, King, Brubeck, Gillespie, Hampton,.........

In other words :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop: and a :jawdrop: just in case I forgot one.....

One helluva day......:D

Mostly true, but no 'black ice' to drive(sorta) on. No frozen pipes. Lotta lawyers-possibly a bad thing.

Certainly puts a new light on W.C. Fields first thing in my day. One privileged night saw B.B. King, Albert King, Bobby "Blue" Bland, and Jimmy Witherspoon. Was most impressed with Jimmy Witherspoon. Felt to me at the time B.B. was pushing his band hard, they were playing everything on top of the beat. And Bobby "Blue" Bland's bassist talked to me a bit. Pretty cool night (except for how it ended, that's another story LOL ).

Slow morning as a Sunday morning should be. Breakfasted on some olives and feta cheese. Conference call in two hours. Looks to me a good day to take care of myself. After the dog and cat are taken care of. That's kind of a philosophy I subscribe to in general.

Stand by me. Written by a minister in 1905, Charles Albert Tindley, recorded by the Staples Singers in 1955. The Ben E King version was reworked by Leiber and Stroller and released in 1960. As a writing team, they also credited Carole King. The Staples Singers re-released their version in 1961 to cash in on the popularity of the song. The minister was never given credit as the songwriter because the song was deemed different enough. The reverend Tindley also wrote I'll Overcome Some Day which morphed into We Shall Overcome. He wrote many other hymns. This song was the subject of litigation agained a publisher that claimed ownership. That finally ended in 2018 where it was declaired to be in the public domain. The publisher lost.

Another sad case, to quote: Unchain My Heart is a song written by Bobby Sharp and recorded first in 1961 by Ray Charles. Sharp, a drug addict at the time, sold the song to Teddy Powell for $50. Powell demanded half the songwriting credit. Sharp later successfully fought for the rights to his song. In 1987, he was also able to renew the copyright for his publishing company, B. Sharp Music.
