Christmastime in Rory Gallagher's old digs. Coffee good.

Loved me some Rory Gallagher. Rocked many of his tunes in my younger days.
There doesn't seem to be much video of Rory in his prime. The bulk of it was recorded during his long glide path on final approach, as if people suddenly took an interest, knowing what they were going to lose.
His health decline was very sad to watch.
Miss his honesty.

Standard poodles are awesome...I personally dont care for any toy breeds.

How about the new wonder animal, the toy bear?

I was cutting through a square carrying a pizza today. One squirrel approached me so I pulled put my bag of peanuts. Next thing you know, they came out of nowhere and started swarming me. I counted a couple of dozen as I made a quick exit. They chased. In the summer the square is full of drug addicts, I thought that it was safe in the winter. Seemingly not.

Uhh...peanuts? drug addicts? Is there a correlation?

An interesting story behind Angel Baby by Rosie & The Originals.

To quote from the wiki (Rosie and the Originals - Wikipedia):

Rosalie "Rosie" Méndez Hamlin was raised in Anchorage, Alaska before moving to California; she was of Mexican and English descent. She was trained on piano in her youth, and started singing with a band at thirteen. She wrote the lyrics for "Angel Baby" as a poem for her very first boyfriend" when she was 14 years old, still attending Mission Bay High School in San Diego, California. When she was 15, she and some friends rented the only recording studio they could find within 100 miles of San Diego located in San Marcos, California to record the song. The studio was owned by an airplane mechanic who had taken part of his hangar to make it. After taking the master to a department store, they convinced a manager to play it in the listening booth of the store's music department. The song received positive reactions from teenage listeners, and a scout from Highland Records offered the group a recording contract, under the condition that the company take possession of the master recording, and that David Ponce be named as the author of the song, as he was the eldest member of the group.

"Angel Baby" made its radio debut in November 1960, before the group had even received their contract. When the contract finally came, Hamlin found that she was ineligible to collect record royalties from the song because she was not listed as the songwriter. This led to the group's break-up, and although Hamlin secured the copyright to her music in 1961, decades of battles over royalties followed.

She made an impact on the Beatles. In a 1969 interview with Life magazine, John Lennon named Hamlin as one of his favorite singers. As can be heard on circulating recordings, the Beatles mention the song "Give Me Love" during sessions on 01/24/69. Lennon and friends can be heard in a quickly busked version of "Angel Baby," taped at his birthday in 1971. Lennon recorded a studio version of "Angel Baby" for his 1975 Rock 'n' Roll album, but the track would go unissued until 1986's Menlove Avenue. Rosie and the Originals are referenced by Led Zeppelin in the liner notes from their 1973 album Houses of the Holy, following the printed lyrics of the song "D'yer Mak'er." The quote is "Whatever happened to Rosie and the Originals?" "Rosie" also shows up in the Led Zeppelin song "How Many More Times".

Not exactly a contralto.

I have no knowledge of Cats. I’ve never owned one and likely never will.

As for Poodles they are a wonderful, faithful and regal breed. Just don’t cut their fur in that dreadful Poodle cut!

Standard poodles are awesome...I personally dont care for any toy breeds.

When a young man, I had a mate who owned a very large Bouvier des Flandres (100+ lbs), which had enough curl to it's fur to make one believe a poodle roosted in his family tree.
Friendliest of creatures to friends, a grizzly bear to the uninvited, curiously named "Bruce", this beastie had the ability to move silently, like a cat. He seemed to take everlasting delight in stalking up behind a new acquaintance of his master's, and announcing his presence by rising on his hind legs and delivering an impressively low-voiced "harumph" right into his victims ear. The reactions were priceless.
Good times.
Around the same time, another friend, an EE who partnered in a sound company with me and mixed shows for several bands I was in, kept a 650lb wild boar, "Edward", as a pet.
Edward was solid muscle, hard as a rock, had 4", later 5" of tusk showing, and thought he was a puppy!
Nothing if not friendly, Edward was affectionate to all, loved to have his tummy scratched, and never understood how off-putting his appearance was.
His stomping grounds were the acres of prairie grass surrounding the barn we had completely renovated into a recording studio and rehearsal complex.
This area of the farm was ringed with electric fence to create a 600yd by 800yd preserve, over which Edward was Lord and Master.
Bringing a new client, or personnel for auditions, into the facility was quite an event.
The unlatching of the gate, innocuous in itself, could always be heard by Edward, wherever he was.
Like any self respecting watchpig, he came to investigate. It was the manner of his arrival that provided so much entertainment!
Always using the act of relatching the gate behind us to put the newbie in front of us as we proceeded down the pathway toward the facility, we had to struggle to suppress our snickering as the launch sequence progressed.
A series of deep, indignant, grunts would arise, soon to be accompanied by thundering hoofbeats closing in. I should explain that prairie grass is akin to a wheatfield, in that it grows very densely to a height of 3~4 feet and sways in the wind, so all this drama is occurring out of sight. All the poor victim can see is a path of grass being trampled down at a very high rate of speed, heading straight for him, bringing a beast-from-hell soundtrack with it. It's like the parting of the Red Sea in your face!
Ed would usually close to within 30 feet before breaking out of cover onto the pathway at full wood. The sight, sound, and fury, plus those tusks, were enough to put the fear of God into anyone.
Those brave enough to stand their ground (very few) or too scared to move (most) received the same initiation as Edward, grunting continuously at full throat, would boil up the path, straight at them, see us behind them, and lock up the brakes at about 10 feet. Skidding right up to their shoes in a cloud of dust, he would immediately flip onto his back, on top of their feet, and wait for a belly scratching.
After regaining their composure, most could laugh about it, even look forward to it. Some brought others to let them experience it for themselves. Some never returned, like the one guitarist who dropped his case and vaulted the 4' high electric fence......well, he almost cleared it. Not sure if the shock of Ed, or the shock of the fence was responsible for the spreading wet spot on his trousers, but he seemed a wanker anyways.
I miss those days. :)
