Turning 64 would just be another year in the life if it weren't for The Beatles. For me, it was a good excuse to walk through my daze a little slower. I was thankful for that.

Asked if I am a monkey, replied I'm a wood goat born on the cusp of the Chinese New Year. That makes me a both goat and monkey. Chinese New Year in 1956 falls on February 12, so, yes, on the cusp.

Now, about that 30th birthday. The Challenger asploded, and they replayed it over, and over, and over. Felt very fitting.

In the early 70's I was in a commune of Jesus People and played in a Jesus band and we were given all kinds of cool equipment by better off Christians to try out. Often the items were gifted to us.

The Kasino bass amp was cool. I think I could have kept it but I left the Christian commune and band to return to the U of W. I think this is the amp I used-- I borrowed the picture from @Ric Vice .

Ya mean this? Bought new in '70, sitting just inside my front door. Still stupidly loud. 2x15/200W.

+infinity on the HPF. I really needed to add a second cab to move more air and get the full wattage out of the Kustom 200.

The Sunn 2000s and JBL cab truly could have benefited from an HPF. Even so, With my '64 Jazz it sounded great and carried the venue where ever we played.

I once had the pleasure to jam through a cab that probably (I might be wrong) didn't need an HPF. It was the 70's and I went to the Blue Moon Tavern in Seattle on a Sunday evening for Jam Night. I was still in college and usually stayed and jammed until last call. Anyway, the place was packed and I could hear the low rumble of the bass from the outside before I even went in.

The walls were rattling and you could feel the bass in your feet. It was the Cerwin Vega B36 with an Ampeg SVT head. A total monster! I got up to jam and it was heavenly. I had not yet bought big amps so for me it was very exciting. I think I wouldn't have wanted to move the head and cab by myself! Anyway one of my early revelations of earth moving cabinets.

Today's cabs are so nice and light and can produce a tremendous amount of volume but there was something special way back when playing through an 18" folded horn and a 300 watt tube amp.
