Marshall and Orange are both players now in the same headphone market. I suspect both are "tuned" to brand signature tones. I don't get on with big bass cans myself as it makes it harder for me to listen to vocals.

I have an old pair of Koss Mickey Mouse Ears that died. I cut off the curly cord and use them as 'mufflers' when I go plinking.

What's that old saying...any song that's worth playing is worth playing loud! I still my have my early 70's vintage Koss Pro-4AA headphones, but mostly use my Sony MDR-7506's.

Well, I've realized after playing my new "old" Ibanez SR1200L VNF for a bit more than a month-- that I'm not happy with the finish. It's supposed to be a satin finish but actually the bass was played so much that it has a shine in many places especially the neck, and most of the neck. It kind of creeps me out to play it.

So I've been looking around TB for threads on restoring the satin finish on the bass. I understand that there is a very thin "satin" finish that Ibanez applies and not to break through that. I've read to use a 0000 Brillo pad but some say that leaves traces of stainless steel. I've never even used a Brillo pad before. I found some sandpaper designed for wood finishing at 2000 grit, and I'm hoping to gently use that just enough to bring back the satin appearance of the bass. Especially the neck! Something so personal about a neck being worn down with one's own hands and bodily fluids....

Any more ideas or thoughts greatly appreciated.........

I've come to appreciate a gloss neck, horror of horrors. I like it! And I've played it outside in the heat and humidity. And I still like it!

I’ve used this as well as 0000 steel wool. I prefer the Scotch-Brite pads. Buy a selection, and more than one. The gray is good for a sticky neck, follow it with white for a finer finish.

Well, here we go again. Big fire six miles to the east of us (Santa Rosa, CA). Thousands of people evacuated between here and Napa. If winds keep up the fire should spread south west and miss us. Got the motorhome ready. Ground is covered with ash.

It never seems to end. Weren’t they shutting off the power last year as a preventative measure.

Is there no way for the government to put in permanent cement lined firebreaks to prevent at least some of the fires from spreading? They are so big on reducing carbon footprints but their forest management policies only make it exponentially worse.

They are shutting power off in high risk/wind areas but, somehow this one got through. They would have to cover the whole State with concrete! These fires spread by high winds and burning embers. Our neighborhood is covered with ash and some burnt leaves. Fortunately none where burning when they landed. I am fortunate to have a house with a tile roof and exterior wall of California Stucco. The only exposed wood are the fences and I can deal with those with garden hoses.
