Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Wrong on one point. It's EASY to sweat at 8,000 feet. I lived at 7,000 in Flagstaff for 8 years. When it gets over 80 at that elevation, it's HOT. A different kind of hot than, say, south Florida in August, but I had no problem sweating when walking the forests with my dogs. Very high UV levels. Still way better than the 3 times/day I was having to change my clothes down in Scottsdale during the summer. Their 100+ days of 100+ degree temps became too much for me.

One look at the density and dress of the workers and the humidity added by all those cut flowers suggested a sweat shop atmosphere to me.

Well, OK then .

I don't know the number now, but at one point, over 70% of the cut flowers sold east or west of the Mississippi River (can't remember which side) came from Colombia. Bogotá is way over 8,000 feet; the mountain is surrounded by flower fields. Gorgeous. But it's a labor-intensive industry. And of course they need full airline schedules. Flowers for mom. Soaked in sweat for the workers.

There are flights into MIA every day with flowers. I would guess there are other areas that get similar service. There's also a trucking company(Armellini) based near me that uses team drivers and ship stuff all over the US very quickly.

I believe mine would have to have been shipped to SFO with a courier to the final destination ;).
