And he once held a bass guitar! Anyone ever seen any pix of him holding a bass at another time? There are lots of different angles of this one time.

Don't tell me people still hate Dylan for going electric??? How would you like it if folks told you you were only allowed to play music the way they wanted you to play it, and then with only the instruments they allowed you to use? I think the 'folkies' back then (when Dylan switched to electric folk rock) behaved like music Nazis!! (Or at best, immature brats...)

Folkies have long memories. Electric helped doom their music, Dylan was a focal point that helped that happen.

Also, Bob was marketed as an idealist, singing for the causes of common people through the folk protest movement, like Woodie. By accepting a Fender endorsement, he sold out to the man.

I am not biased. I didn't like him for acoustic or electric. I did like those who covered his music though.

Home from an unplanned road trip to see Mrs GT's dad. He has been diagnosed with tonsil cancer. He had a lump on the side of his neck that was found about 6 mo ago, otherwise no symptoms.

He saw an ENT about 30 miles from where he lives. They did a CT scan then referred him to a doc in Memphis. We took him to Memphis this past Fri. Good news is the cancer was caused by HPV (human papapillomavirus) and not something else. It's also stage 1 and very treatable. It is in at least one lymph node in his neck. He will have a PET scan in the next week or so to see if the cancer has spread anywhere else.

The doc is saying he may have to be in Memphis for radiation treatment which is 2 hrs away. Treatment would be 5 days a week for 4-6 weeks. Pop told us he wouldn't be able to do that. He's 88 and healthy but travel is difficult for him. Renting an apartment or something short term in Memphis is out, too. He's a home body. Anything away from his home for any length of time is out of his comfort zone.

Not sure if he can get the treatment at the facility 30 miles away. That may prove to be difficult for travel. Surgery might be an option but not sure about that yet. We'll talk to the doc this coming Fri after he meets with his team on recommendations.

The doc in Memphis said cancer caused by HPV is becoming common. They had 400 cases last year. The virus can lay dormant for years before it causes problems.

Put in a pot with covid, add the the medical adventures of a couple of friends, stir well. Life stinks.

Thanks much, guys and gal! He's handling it better than we thought he would and staying positive. He is amazing at 88. No moss growing on his head!

There's a story in our family that gets retold every so often: My Dad, who was a big band sax man, asked me "What's with this Bob Dylan cat?" I didn't have an answer. Still don't.
