Getting a specific tone, question:

Now, ive recenty obtained my first D.I - the MXR M80, while looking for a video on it, i came across this:




now, im terrible with Distortion pedals, but if somebody could inform me on how to obtain this sound, and why it works that way in at least a little detail, you'd help me a ton in finding future sounds, and helping me understand D.I better

if it helps, im running a b200h ---> B410 cab, so i have the 6 band EQ and Notch nob to work with also.

That's kind of the M80 dirt sound. Sounds to me like the color switch is on, but you should be able to get close to that with a pretty straightforward eq and adjust the gain to taste.

DI is just the direct input, as in direct input to a sound board or recording console. The distortion need not be active to use the DI function.

The M80 is a two channel DI. 1st channel is a 3 band EQ with a color switch and volume. Color switch changes the EQ curve a little bit. 2nd channel is the distortion channel. The controls on the distortion channel are gain (on this pedal adjusts the amount of distortion), trigger (adjust the threshold for the noise gate if the noise gate is engaged), blend (blends the clean signal in with the distortion signal), and volume (how loud the distorted signal will be leaving the pedal).

It sounds to me like PZapdos just wants a little help setting up his MXR M80 to achieve this tone.

I agree with cheapbasslivin, that is kind of the MXR's dirt sound. If you go 12:00 on blend and gain and maybe boost the mids a bit you won't be far off.

i got sorta close too it with the 12 blend and gain suggestion, boosted the mids a tad. Probably need to mess around with it a lot more but im slowly getting there, i guess
