The Ibanez ES-2 is a nice cheap analogue delay with an oscillation switch, great for space sounds.

Edit: just re-read and saw you were looking at this already. Consider this a recommendation! I used to use mine into my Small Stone, and I was really pleased with the results.

I haven't tried it, but I think the EHX Ravish Sitar might work well here too - turn off the "lead" sound and you get some synth-y drones in the background that "resonate" with what you're playing. You can send the drone notes to another amp/PA too.

The space echo is really cool. I still may wind up with it. The only thing holding me back is I have heard about a lot of quality issues.

I just ordered a Bass Whammy so I got that taken care of.

They are supposed to be excellent, that should cover pitch shifting. The polytope's detuned voices can create interesting textures, or push the detune more to get more challenging atonality. Then with modulation you have a really good chorus.
