Getting started on a "fender" (?)

Bought this thing really cheap. When I got it I was told it was an old fender body in need of repair (light scratches and chips). I don't believe it's that old, and I'm quite sure It is nothing valuable. It is a plywood body and I have seen nothing on marking it a fender. My question is does anybody have a rough idea what this may be? It is just a project and I only have $20 invested in it. Basically bought it as a learning experience in building and setting up.

Sorry about the mess up the picture I took earlier wouldn't download. And now I've started stripping it. The picture of the old bridge did not come out well but you get the idea.

Getting started finding more information? Or getting started remodeling it?

Edit: I also don't agree that its a Hondo II. The routing is similar, but it would literally be the first plywood Hondo II I've ever come across...

well at least the pickguard is ok, but first off start sanding that finish away and keep an eye out for pickups in the classfides or craigslist, also do that for a neck and tuners and get a wiring harness from ebay, try to spend under 200 or else its not worth it and u might as well get a mim fender ,ive gotten mims for really cheap, just got to keep an eye out.

I'm using a Hondo II P for my project as well... I don't know about yours, but the control cavity on mine is too wide for a standard Fender pickguard... Luckily yours came with a pickguard.
I had to make my own ;)
Also, mine has a plywood body too.
Good luck with your project!

I'm still considering making a new one. I have some friends who do metal fabrication. I'm thinking either brushed aluminium or diamond plate. We will just use the old one for a template.

Does anybody know what I can use for a neck? Will a fender style neck work on these?

I'm actually making mine out of aluminium as well! :p
I was looking at getting a new neck for mine and I'm 90% sure that a standard Fender replacement one will fit. The neck pocket size is the same, but your pickguard will have to cover up the truss-rod adjustment slot.
I know Warmoth have the neck pocket dimensions, so wouldn't hurt to check...

Kind of what I was thinking. Thats why I was thinking of making a new one. Ya, the neck pocket seems to the same and I've got a line on a couple of necks for cheap money.
