Getting too busy

Unfortunately this is a system that is abused in the USA a great deal. (Like most other things done in the name of capitalism greed) But I still want to know are you making good money with this busy originals band? Are these gigs paid or not?

Eh, if the best job I can find after I'm out of school is with this company I'll go work in a factory.

My internship is in a medical field. I think our concept of 'intern' is a little different than the norm. I'm basically doing a regular employee's job while he watches and mentors. Which is pretty reasonable.
Unlike a regular internship, I will get a license when I'm done and will work more or less unsupervised after that.

PS: If it makes it any worse, my internship is not only unpaid but I had to pay to do it!

Haha, I wish. The local music scene won't support that. We get paid about as well as it can, which means band fund money. The venues here are mostly pretty cool and the reality is that they aren't making bank off us either.

Being in a band here is mostly a 'coolest kid in town' thing. A few hundred for a 5-piece ain't going to pay the bills.

So does mine, but that's almost entirely the snooping of two admins who love to gossip. At the same time, if they saw a fb of me at a strip club with a couple of ladies with loose morals and a big blunt in my mouth, it wouldn't be good for me at work. In fact, it would be very bad.

I was up front about my "addiction" with my employer. They don't mind because my industry is volatile enough that there are times where it's really slow. I can make enough money from music that it really helps during the down times. About 1/2 our company is more or less "on call," and they all have weekend jobs, as do I. It's just that my weekend job is playing music to drunk people on Friday and Saturday nights.

It works out well, and I try to downplay the fact that I have way more fun and interest in the music stuff...
