Now, if only Jon Moody @Jon Moody would change the A string from 80 to a 78 in the ML7200 set to have a balanced tension set, then I might not miss the fact that Progressives 2.0 seem to have been stillborn.
The funny thing is that the OP could have simply typed the exact words of his post, verbatim, into the search box and gotten the answer. I actually tried it.
Oh no, no, no...! Please don't change anything to the Pressurewound lineup. Remember what happened to the Progressives when they tried to "update" them with improved features!
The "update" did not kill progressives. Supply chain issues as COVID-19 got really bad in 2020 is what killed the Progressives. Since Pressurewounds are essentially the same as Progressives, just run through a die, GHS could pick up production at any point they may choose to tool back up and order packaging.
Ahhh, GHS Pressurewounds. My favorite bass strings on the planet. I buy mine from Fret Nation. In fact, I buy all of my strings from Fret Nation.
Just picked up my first set of GHS Pressurewounds for my Squier VM Jazz bass and tried them out last night. So far I'm really happy with the tone and feel of these strings.
I ran into a little snag when I installed the strings. Usually I start with the E string, pull it through the bridge, pull it down to the tuner, pull it taut, and then start wrapping. When I did that with this string, I noticed it immediately formed a kink in the string where the winding ends. Worried I might have over stressed that point (or that I would by tightening) I use a screwdriver as a mandrel to put a bit of a bend in the thick part of the string just before the end of the winding, basically to help it follow the arc of the tuning machine post without putting more strain on that joint. Is this the recommended way to deal with this? I don't remember seeing the string kink like this with other brands I have tried (Fender, EB, D'Addario, DR). Other brands have a more gradual taper than this one.
The kink is right where the string has starts the wavy part, and you can see a little bit of metal showing through the wrap.

Have you been able to finish installing them? Or, did you have to uninstall the E string because of the issue?
I went ahead and installed all the strings. I bent the E string around the shaft of a screwdriver to sort of pre-form it, reducing how sharp the string had to bend at that joint. Once installed, it looked ok, but I did slightly stress it initially before I noticed it. If that string is going to break sometime down the road, I can guess where it will happen.
As long as you've been able to finish installing the E string, it should be fine. The core wires used for the Pressurewounds are slightly thicker than average and quite stable and durable. I would suggest you leave it alone now that it's on without messing around with it too much.
So that's why I find that these are about the stiffest strings to play of everything that I have. Right there with the LaBella 760FM...
