GHS PWs vs. GHS Flatwounds

Just wondering if I got the (total) tension ratings correct. Anyone with any knowledge of this, it is much appreciated.

Thanks Michael! I tried to be independent and look up the GHS tension chart. Lots of numbers to gaze at but I figured the numbers in bold faced type were the ones I was looking for.

As an aside, I just ordered the Pressurewounds (40-96) for my Squier FSR CV P bass. I have GHS P Flats on my other 2 basses (Squier PJ and a Fender 60s J)... really like them. However, while I was playing my new P bass with the stock rounds, I started to kind of like the tone and punch I was getting. I don’t want to go to rounds, but it seems like the Pressurewounds were a pretty good balance between flats and rounds. The most important thing to me is getting that mid range punch. I read that the Pressurerounds will give you a nice thumpy low and a good mid-range punch. Is this your experience? I understand it’s going to be different with different types of basses. Just considering a P bass with this situation. Thanks for any input you can offer.

My P bass wore a set of the Precision Flats Light for exactly one year - until I put the PWs back on it last month. As much as I loved the woody warmth of the P Flats, I decided I needed a little more "bark and bite" out of my P bass, and PWs give me exactly what I need.

I decided to stick with my tried and true ML7200 (44-58-80-102) for this one. They're actually closer to the P Flats Light both in terms of tension (169.3 lbs. vs. 163.2 lbs.) and overall playing feel.

I love PWs so much I'm considering trying out the other two sets in the near future. M7200 (44-62-84-106) on my J for D-G-C-F tuning and L7200 (40-54-76-96) on my active 5-string along with the PW 128B.

Ernieball Cobalt Flat has more punchy tone than GHS PW on my pbass plus extra roundwound like growl tone.

GHS truly is the King of the Midrange in bass strings. Pressurewounds are always a good choice. I'm in love with Balanced Nickels on my American Professional Precision. For something more brutally rude and in your face, the original hex core Bass Boomers are the power rocker's choice.

Pressurewounds sound like they were made for a jazz bass. It's crazy how well the two go together.

The Geddy is almost ready for a string change... The NPS Bass Boomers are next up for a test run.

100%. They sound really nice on a precision as well. I've had them on both! Just wanted to make a point that they bring out the best characteristics of a jazz.

I instantly fell in love with the PWs the first time I tried them four years ago. And it was on my 2008 Highway One Jazz. So, I know what you're saying.
