Yeah, the contouring is not normal. The electronics I can rewire. Again it's just a disclaimer to those considering new Gibsons. I bought an oversized LP goldtop bass a year ago, and the fretboard delaminated! I'm keeping it...It sounds great, feels killer, and seriously looks perfect design wise.

and yes...that is indeed a sriracha print.

The volume pot issue is unacceptable of course. The contouring you have noticed is standard on all of those new EB basses - that's what the shape looks like, its not unfinished.

If you think about it, this is a mass-produced instrument made on a CNC, there is no "luthier" who just didn't finish - its the design itself, as programming on the CNC and replicated dozens of times to within 0.001" on each instrument - they all look like that.

Re the volume pot, an authorized dealer should fix that for you in two shakes...

+1 The "Luthier" is made of metal and computer components and probably can't be fired or written up.

I paid tax..I wanted it now, and apparently I need a warranty. Good thing I have $200 to spend and not worry about it. Save your sad faces for the next guy.

do you get lifetime and a half??

The problems you say your bass has have been well documented here on TB.
It isn't right but that is what you get with this model.

If you wanted a good one you should have bought it from Sweetwater where you can look at the one you are buying and get their full check up by them before it leaves. That means THEY would have found the problem with the pots and repaired it before it got to you.

Yes you got a bad one but with some wiser choices you could have saved yourself money and heartbreak.

I waited six months for my lefty Midtown bass and returned it within a day of it finally arriving. It had a number of issues including a hole where a strap pin had been installed on the wrong horn, a bare spot where they missed spraying the nitro, bad grounding, right handed pots, and a finish that looked like they had not even tried to buff.

For the price I expected more.

Kinda sad when Epiphones and Squiers have better QC reputations than Gibsons and Fenders.

+1 I couldn't believe how good my Epiphone EB3 sounds fit and finish are beautiful and if anyone thinks the "electronics and hardware " are worth the extra thousand dollars for a Gibson you are exactly who the company is banking on.

These basses are kind of a funny topic here. Ive held off posting but after reading this one today thought i would...

I bought one from musician friend and also felt like it was wired out of phase. I called gibson and the y sent me to a local repair shop that fixed it and now it sounds great and i can run both pickups without issue. Kind of a pain but now its displaced my p bass as my go to. It sounds great through my svt and sits with a plexi real nice. Our drummer really likes where it puts me as well.

But, i also had to relocate the strap pin bridge side and switch to hipshots to get rid of the neck dive. I guess thats the trade off for its super light weight.

They need some tweaking but im real happy with it and think its well worth the sub 1k street price
