You are perhaps somewhat misinformed. Mike’s designs in the Tobias era used the same top thickness; and there was the reveal at the forearm contour. Mike’s layup is planar; and so you get that reveal. Sadowsky has a similar forearm contour; but, they use a much thinner top laminate, which is bent around the contour.That whole super cheap & cheezy "top wood not thick enough to cover the contour" is sooooooo 1990's.
