You guy's should try one before you comment.
No, we shouldn't.
Honestly, these basses bother me from a conceptual standpoint. A LesPaul bass? There's another thread that asks "What devalues a bass?". IMO a LesPaul bass devalues LesPauls.... and it devalues bassists.

What basses do you normally play?
Also, how many Les Paul basses have you ever played?
Neither of those questions matters.
How would you react to a Lamborghini Countach minivan??
Doesn't matter how awesome a minivan it might be, it would devalue the supercar. That's what I'm getting at here. Rickenbacker makes guitars, but they don't make a 4003 guitar. Doing so would devalue their iconic bass.
I believe the tuners on the new Les Pauls are Grovers and they are nice, if they are using the same tuners as what are on my Money Les Paul bass, then I would not have a worry, those TB pick-up are one of Gibson's best sounding bass pickups .... the Les Paul basses from around 2004 and up are some of Gibson's best basses .... you really need to try one ... IMHO

Sorry, disagree.
Lamborghini made a SUV in the 90's. Sold quite well.
RIC DID make a 4003 guitar..... It was called the 481.
Precision - Strat?
Give your head a shake.
Again, what basses do YOU play?

My precision looks too much like a stratocaster! Devalued!
TB: Different opinions welcomed here.
Ohhh, looks like my opinion, which the OP REQUESTED, has rubbed you the wrong way. Sorry, but not really.
The Lamborghini was not a Countach SUV.
Notice that Ric withdrew that 481 thing in 1984. Notice also that Ric makes serious effort to prevent the Rockinbetters and Ricenfakers from ever reaching the market. Go ahead and ask yourself why that might be. Go look at the 'devalue' thread. Think about why a 4003 sells for close to $2k, while a Fender Jazz can be had for $600.
I was not saying the LP bass on its own is good or bad. I was addressing a totally different concept, as per the OP's request.
And in response to your "what do you play" question, you have failed repeatedly to glance at my sig and glean the info for yourself. So please try not to repeat questions for which the answers are abundantly obvious to everyone else.
Wow! I was just about to call you an idiot or moron....Your post below changed my mind.
I hope you post frequently on TB. You are truly an asset to this site.
