Gibson/Mesa

Not sure of the veracity of the scuttlebutt, but I read that Gibson is up for sale. If true, I wonder if/how this might affect Mesa?? It seems since Gibson took over they have pretty much left Mesa to their own devices. But if they are indeed for sale then there is a chance of the new owners meddling with things?? Again, this is just scuttlebutt so take it with a grain.

I would assume this is one of the typical guitar market rumors that seem to happen with regularity. Gibson has indeed left us alone, nothing has changed from our R&D team’s perspective.

If you happen to hear more, please let me know ;)

Wow. What a drag to be forced to take two unpaid weeks off right before the holidays.
Unfortunately it's actually quite common. I know my employer almost invariably issues a 2 week furlough for a ton of our contractors at the end of every year; my contacts with other firms tell me this is the norm for them as well. Really crappy policy that saves money on the ledger but doesn't account for the soft costs; our methodology these days is project driven and those projects require PM's, who are almost all contractors, so most projects grind to a halt while the non-contractors get paid to study their navels. Penny-wise pound-foolish management has become pretty common.

Something at Gibson is not going well. The new CEO seemed to enter unexpectedly. I have a friend who works on the line there and was told to take 2 weeks off unpaid so they could shut things down for a period of time. Not sure if demand is slowing?
I’m not seeing any of this. There is year end inventory period plus the holiday break of course.

The CEO replacement was shared on numerous news sites.

The line closure was word of mouth from my friend who works there in Nashville.

The new CEO has been there from the start, worked hand in hand with the retired CEO. He was the obvious choice since he was the most intimately involved with the Gibson acquisition out of bankruptcy AND he's a guitar guy too.

There may be something your friend is missing too, it may be related to something that's not what he thinks he understand. I haven't heard of this, but I'm not in Nashville.

I've heard the same too. He seems great and the right fit! We need guitar nerds in the head spots of these firms!

The departure of the former CEO seemed very sudden though before Cesar took over.

Maybe not so sudden though, he stuck through what I understood was a 5 year acquisition and rebuilding commitment which he completed.
