Gibson SG Special wiring help

Hello, looking to get some guidance as to what is going on here with the wiring..

It started as, when the bridge pickup was touched with the fingers, the bass would deaden. Now we have only sound on the neck pickup with some crazy buzzing when the tone is turned on.

I have lots of wire to re-wire and would basically like to do that, just been a very long time and getting quite confused.

2 pickups, the braided is the neck, the black is the bridge. Neck volume, Bridge Volume, Tone

Even if I saw a picture of a stock one that would be fantastic.

Thank you!

Can’t really tell from the photos, but is the braided shield from the neck pickup soldered to the back of the neck volume pot? It should be.

Also, it looks like the braid might be touching the pot leg with the brown wire. It shouldn’t.

Otherwise, I agree with the post above to reflow the solder joints.

Thanks for the replies,

Should the neck pickup wire be soldered to the pot as well?

I guess this could be treated as a Jazz Bass setup considering it’s V V T

Yes, wire it like a jazz bass. The ground/shield from each pickup to the back of its pot. The center conductor from each pickup to the center leg of its pot. The lower leg of the volume pots ( In the orientation of the photo) tied together to the tone pot and output Jack positive.
