Gibson The Grabber Bass

Well, I think I didn't overpay. 425 Euro's. The asking price around here is 700 to 1000 euro's (no case). Took it to the rehearsal room the other night. Played it through a 1963 Dynacord Bass King and a SWR Goliath. It really is warm and punchy, every note is there. It's like a mix of P ad J bass. The neck is very close to the neck (all maple) of my Precision Bass.

I am busy with restoring my '74 grabber. I want to order a custom replacement of the truss rod cover. For that I need the mounting hole dimensions and the distance from the bottom of truss rod cover to the bottom screw holes. Would be very nice if someone could sent those

dear all, I just added a '81 G3 to my huge collection. do not know if it is going to stay mainly because I play 5vers. But a totally decent bass which sure can have enthusiast adopter.
20 yrs in its case pressed against the cord, it bears deep scars on the back, otherwise in normal wearing condition and sexy appearance in its brown sunburst.
A solid and very playable bass with great old school neck (and room to lower action) and original electronics just needing cleaning (hopefully). the Lawrence pickup are exceptionally hi-fi for a passive build, reminding of some active Alembic of the age. Clever wiring but it could benefit of higher impedence pots and may be more flexible switching. Do not know if I want to modify though, even if easily reversible.
But great sounds of the age. sort of dating Debbie Harris ...
now the posted grabber headstock pictures... the scarf is totally different from the standard Grabber or G3 one. Also the headstock shape is slightly different from standard ones based on what pictures show .
it seems to be a (well) repaired headstock. it might be a previously 1 pc neck which broke up.
