What is the new "gift" button for and why is it dangerously close to the "Like" button?

I wanted to like your post, but my finger slipped and TB is now $500 better off
It gives members the option to gift supporting memberships to the member the button appears on.
I thought I'd see if there is any interest in being able to gift an upgrade to a fellow member. It is close to the like button, but there are steps to take before any money is let loose (choose the upgrade, choose your payment method, confirm gift upgrade payment etc).
The Gift "button" placement is annoying, especially on the phone where it occupies the space formerly occupied by Like. I'm not the only person who's hit it by accident.
Can we just remove it altogether? If I really want to gift someone a $500 lifetime membership I’m sure I’ll find the button on their profile somewhere
Makes sense. I’m glad there’s a layer or two between clicking and paying. I’m bound to click on it by mistake at some point. There’s only so much screen real estate.
I agree the placement on mobile is terrible.
Removing the gift link/button from posts for now.

Accidentally hit it by mistake this morning, obviously caught the slip in time… moving it to the right where we rarely tap should fix?

I went to GIFT but accidentally Liked… they moved it on me…If it helps anybody, you can gift me instead of like
If they do that, if we’re reporting a bad post we might end up gifting that person a lifetime membership

If it has a place to save CC info, put in something bogus. That'll slow you down.
