Gig last night.

So I had my first jazz gig last night (3rd gig ever), kind of at a school dance for people who didn't want to listen to the dj. It was two hours and prior to the first practice (which was a week before yesterday), i had never touched jazz music. The first 45min-hour were not too great, i made a lot of mistakes and i just didn't play very well (1 or 2 semi tones off from everyone else)... but in the second half, i think we all did a great job and i'm really happy. Sax, piano, guitar, drums. And the drummer decided to bail the last 45 minutes.... i also got a 5 dollar tip so i guess this is my frist paid gig as well :) the music was transposed alto sax music. All i got were the chords.

Last night I did a singing contest where the piano player fudged up most of his parts. He had the nerve to tell me the reason why the winners won was because of the way he played his parts. Actual quote was " I played the parts better than it was charted out that's why they won".I didn't know what to say.
