Gigging Musicians: Cabinet Choice

Most gigs, Orange SP410, 64 lbs. according to the internet. (Highly underrated cabinet but that's another thread...)

Larger gigs, Ampeg PF-410HLF at 74 lbs.

Even larger gigs, I'll probably run them both. I haven't actually done this yet but they are both 8 ohms, and I may do it at an upcoming pre-Christmas show...

This thread is for gigging musicians that carry their gear out 2 or more times a month... what size cab do you carry, and how much does it weigh?

I have 2 Epifany UL2 1x15 cabs. Bring 1 or 2 depending on venue. They are light. Maybe 30 lbs each. I can carry 1 with 1 hand no problem.

Small to mid sized gig, one 1x12, larger gigs two 1x12 custom built cabs powered by my TC 250 or Markbass LM. Each cab weighs 29 lbs. Outdoor gigs Usually use a 410 genz cab that is probably 48 - 50 lbs. or both 1x12 cabs powered by MB little mark, and if large outdoor gig, all four powered by 1000 watt Carvin/BBE rack.

For small to medium size gigs I use a Mark Bass LM III, GK MB 200(Note the GK is in the pocket of the Mark Bass gig bag. It fits perfect!), REV Sound RS 410.The REV Cab is 59 pounds. If I play a bigger room I add a Bag End S15d into the mix.

Depends on the show. Full blown "loud" gig I use 2 bergantino cabs stacked. Quiet show I use one. Heaviest is the 2x10 which is about 40lbs

Depends on the band/gig, small places & long lugging/walk, I use my 2 Aguilar DB112's, lately, for everything else I have been using my NV610, as a tilt back cabinet, it's pretty easy to move around and loading in and out of the Yukon/Suburban

Markbass 2x10 combo. Weighs less than 50lbs.

a couple of bands, some club gigs with one, corporate/wedding with the other, two different cities, but for all: GK 210 combo @ about 35 lbs. sometimes (some outside gigs) i take an additional 15" cab @ about 50 lbs, but that's rare. the 210 has been enough for me: and i actually don't even need that much (when i have FOH) half of the time.

This has been my small club rig for the last few months.

Gk 410 neo cab, not really sure what it weighs, not bad as I bring a hand truck to move my gear,
6-space rack with a dedicated preamp for foh, and normally a gkmb800 amp, but it's out for repairs right now, so I'm using a peavey megabass amp that weighs a ton.

The rack isn't bad, maybe 20 pounds, but the stand in mega bass amp weighs a ton, I'd guess at least 30 some pounds.

I'm on the verge of going with a lightweight combo amp for these small gigs, and keep the rack for just the ears only gigs. Use the 410 as an extension cab for more oomph when needed and call it a day.

For most gigs it's a EA Wizzy 12. I can carry the Wizzy, a head ( Markbass LMII or Streamliner) and my bass in one trip. If I do anything really big I just use a DI.

DI or Boom Bass Cab 1215. I rarely turn the volume up more than a quarter. Was thinking about getting one of their 1012 or 1212 cabs for an even easier schlep.

If just for stage volume an Avatar B210 neo, 44 lbs. For most club and small outdoor venues (the bulk of my gigs) I add an Avatar SB112 neo, 39 lbs. If I need more (rarely happens anymore) I pull out the 1990s Crate box loaded with 2 15" JBL K140s, around 120 lbs.

A Hartke LH1000 and an LDS 2 x 10 cabinet. The LH is about 50lbs, the cab ABOUT 35lbs. I DI out to our PA and either use my Dimension Deluxe 5 or my Precision V.

Lately it's been an Ampeg PF112hlf. Sounds like Ampeg but only weighs 30 lbs. Nice!

I'm using the 115 verson of that cab along with the PF500 head. Can carry the cab with one hand, the head in another and my bass on my back. One trip in and out 2 or so times a month plus rehearsals. PA is another story! But I use that rig for gigs large and small.

Fearful 12/6 if I'm outdoors or if I want a Gospel tone. It weighs around 40 pounds.
Prototype Audio Kinesis 46 Birdhaus for jazz clubs and rehearsals. Around 25 pounds.
A pair of Ampeg SVT210AV cabinets for country or blues work. Each of those cabinets weighs 26 pounds.

I'm obviously at ease with the fact that speakers are chock full of trade offs, and that rather than try and find the perfect speaker for everything, I'd rather find some good problem solvers and then just bring the right set up.

I have considered getting one of Duke's 15 series cabinets and culling the herd to one cabinet.

Usually, a GK NEO 212, but if I need more volume, Genz Benz Uber 410. The GK gets most used becuase, Ive never had a volume issue with it, and much lighter than the 410. I'm not sure what the GK weighs but it's easy to move compared to the uber410 or my old Ampeg 215.
