I get some fizzy sounds and it cuts out. Any suggestions? I figure I will try to find a place that does repairs. This sucks. I bought it second hand 2 weeks ago and I just tried it tonight to this. Looks like I got sold a lemon.

GK 1001 RB ll is dying

Use a spare instrument cable to loop from the effects send to effects return and play it again. If the trouble is gone (which it usually will be) the effects return jack's internal contacts are dirty.
I have a similar story, almost exactly the same, in fact.
I tried the jumper in the FX jacks. No benefit.
My 1001RB-II went to GK for repair. Had two bad transistors in the output section.
Round trip cost to me was $160.
Another good deal that wasn't a good deal.

The problem with buying used equipment is that you really don't get a handle on the unit's history. Before you buy, you must test out all of it's functions. Many sellers want you out of their place ASAP and won't allow you to test the unit properly. With no disrespect, waiting for two weeks before testing the unit is a little careless. I hope your repair is not too expensive.
I had the same thing happen too. Bought a used one for a great price, only $250! Had it for a few weeks and it started acting up. My repair also cost about $160, but since I still had only $410 in the amp with it being gone through by a tech I still thought it was a good deal. I was able to turn about a $50 profit when I sold it too.
So I took it to a reputable repairman and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. He had it all day and tested everything. He can't get it to fail. I didn't actually witness the failure. A friend of mine borrowed it and said it did what I described in the start of the thread. So I have the amp back and I don't know what to think now. I have been playing it at very low volume through a PA speaker I have and it seems to work but my friend was running it at about 50% of its power. I wonder if he was doing something wrong to get the sound he was getting.
Did you try B-String 2's idea? It's very possible if there's nothing wrong with it elsewhere that the effects loop jacks are corroded. Clean the effects loop jacks with electrical contact cleaner before you give up on it.
