gk 2001rb vs 1001rb II

beside the weight and price, are there any advantages to have a 1001rb II over a 2001rb.

no. If you go over to the GK forum, anyone will tell you, get the 2001 if you can, it is a better amp.

Where i do agree with Treebranch, you have to give some more details. For just your question, no, the 2001 is better because it has added headroom, and another channel. In a little more depth though, why do you need that much headroom? What kind of cab/s are you running, and what kind of venues are you playing? One advantage to the 1001 is that it uses the same preamp voicing as the 2001, therefore, you will get the same sound for the reduced weight and price. Regardless of what anyone says on here either, if you find yourself NEEDING more than 700 watts, you are playing large venues and have a whole list of options that you'd need to consider. I run a 700rb II with an sbx 810 cab and most of my sound guys are telling me to turn down, because what you have on stage mainly is for you, not for the crowd, THEY will push the sound out to the crowd. They also like to run a DI pre-eq so your tone suffers as well. Hope that helps!

Isn't the 2001rb just two 1001rb powersections and a few extra buttons in one box?

the 2001 has some quality of life features that imo aren't that important. Things like the xlr jack being on the back and a distortion channel. Theres left and right speaker ports, among a couple other things. Unless you need the extreme headroom of the 2001 I don't know why you'd want to spend more.

The 2001 is actually a little warmer and a bit fuller.
as for the running your head pre-eq and ruining your sound, I don't tell them they have the option and run it post-eq
I also have everything rackmounted, so i like all the connections being on the back

im sure there is somewhere. but that doesnt matter. Hell, if you can find the best tone in a 100 dollar 25 watt head i would say buy it and get a poweramp. Watts doesnt matter, you can change those easy. It is all about the tone.

not always true in my experience, because a lot of the time it is the poweramp that helps color your tone.

It can be the power amp that colors your tone. But if you find the tone you like and a power amp that does minimal coloring(there are some that do so little some can't hear it) then go for it. As for stuff getting louder that the 2001RB, yes there is: Flea's rig: 3 2001RBs
