Gabriel51 - have you tried the cab out yet, and if so, what are your impressions?

J

Briefly, when my head arrived however it was defective and after playing for a few minutes it failed, so not much time to tell anything about the cab yet.
I decided to go with separates, I bought a Crown amp yesterday and a "ART Pro Channel Tube Preamp" which won't be here until day after tomorrow.
Plugging my bass into the amp with no preamp is about like a 10 watt amp, not loud but at that level it sounds very accurate.
At no time did I ever notice anything coming out of the horn, but in all fairness I really need to push it some to tell.
I will have 700 watts RMS @ 8 ohms when the pre gets here.

There is something really screwy about the pricing on these cabs, the 8ohm version is about 100 bucks less than the 4 ohm version.
That is the real reason i bought this cab because it's a 4x10 neo for less than 300 bucks, and it weights 41 lbs.
1K crown amp weights 11 lbs (Class D).
I'll report back in a few days...

Hey Gabriel51

How does it sound with all of that power?

You know it sounds really good, I like sealed cabs they seem to have a clearer note to them.
There are two versions of this cab one is 400 watts and the other is 800, I contacted GK about none of this information being on the web site and they said they really never noticed it and that they would look into it.
So, this amp is capable of three time the power rating of the speakers so I just need to be careful.

Anyway it sounds really good with plenty of head room. (to say the least)
