GK 700RB - dead or alive

Hey Ras - no offence pal, thats just what i'm like ! I have my reading glasses sat on my head all day, till i need to read small print, or work on the PC.

At least 2 or 3 times a day i'm hunting down the damn things, and eventually realise they're sat on my melon

But thanks for all the help guys. Head and both cabs running like a showroom Shelby Cobra.

I dont really know -

The 2 speaker cables i have are ¼" Jack one end and speakon the other. So i first tried them using the ¼" jack ends in the head, going to the speakon inputs in the EBS cabs.

I couldnt get a sound out of it - then swopped things round and tried the speakon ends of the cables to the head, going to the ¼" jack sockets on the cabs - and for some reason they both started working.

No i dont get it either ..

Make sure that for some reason or another, you don't have bridge mode cables. The way you can tell, is that a normal speakon cable will only have wires on the 1+ and 1- terminals, where a bridge cable will be wired to 1+ and 2+. If you have the latter, do not use it with the speakons in the amp! You are bridging the woofer and tweeter amps, and since they are different power outputs, will hate each other . . . . violently!

Other than that, I can't think of any reason whatsoever why you couldn't use the cable either way. Heck, since you apparently have speakon on both the cabs and the amp, do yourself a favor and lose the 1/4" jacks totally, and run speakon on both ends. It will only cost you about $10, and you will be able to kiss 1/4" jack failures goodbye forever . . . . and have cables that can't get accidentally pulled out at the worst possible moment.

Good speech Tim -

The speakons were checked to make sure they were 1+ and 1- and were ok in that respect.

And i may splash out in the future for cables with speakons both end, but as they seem to work ok in their current orientation - just gonna leave it for now ! :D
