GK 700rb problem - Help

So what did you do? You went to use it again the next day and everything was fine? And it never happened again?

Have other people had problems with their GK?

Try jumping the effects loop with a short instrument cord. Sometimes the contacts in the jacks become corroded from oxidation. If that fixes the problem, then clean the contacts with an appropriate contact cleaner. There's one spring loaded contact that is supposed to connect the preamp to the power amp when there is nothing plugged into the effects loop. It's a good idea to do this periodically anyhow, and this problem can occur with many amps, not just GK, that use this same system. A simple switch would solve the problem but for some reason, they'd rather have the hassle and expense of staying with the old way of doing it.

I had this problem with an old GK400RB. I must admit it was many years before this problem manifested, but it was a pain to diagnose because it was intermittent. I just carried a spare instrument cable all the time after that.
