Gk amp help

okay so. It's about that time for me to stop using other people's equipment and grab my own stuff. I'm in a metalcore, hardcore band and I'm really looking for a lot of lows. a big bottom end thump yanno? I'm looking at the Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II 700/50W Biamp Bass Head and i was originally looking at an ampeg cab but.. I found the Gallien-Krueger Neo 412 4x12 Bass Speaker Cabinet. I've been playing guitar for 7 years bass for 4. so equipment wise.. I could use some help=] any ideas?​

The 700RB or 1001RB should be fine for you, I owned both and they can deliver some nice low end along with some grind. My only knock is I'm not crazy about bi amp feature which are useless if you don't have a GK bottom with the right speakon connector so that extra 50 watts for the horn is wasted. Just winds up being an extra knob on a amp which already has too many imo.

I love my rig.... 700rbII, GK Neo 112 and 212 cabs. Perfect club gigging rig for me. It's light, loud, and sounds awesome. I had thought about the 412 when I bought mine, but the versatility of the 2 cabs won me over, and it's a choice I don't regret. We're playing tonight in a small place that is very volume sensetive..... having the 112 available for this gig is perfect. As we're schlepping gear out of the club at 3am tomorrow morning, I'll be one handing my cab, with the head in the bag on one shoulder, and my bass in it's bag on the other......... the only drag is that I'll have to go back in to load up my PA :crying:

I might have gone with your setup, but I got the 412 2 months old for $525. It was just too loud a cab for the player that bought it. His loss........I don't play any real intimate gigs, if I ever do I have some TL 606's, a single Showman 115 or the old 215 cab. :cool:

I play more prog type metal, I'm looking for some serious midrange/cut/punch/grind to get through the guitardo's. I play a spector with active emg's that has some solid growl and picked up a neo 412 using a peavey tour 450 to power it, but the 450 peavey watts ain't getting it done. Not sure if the 700 would give me too much (gk) growl with the bass I have...may have to pony up for the 1001. Anyway, the 412 isn't much larger than the average 410, weighs 100 lbs., and is easy to move around I say do it...or 2 212.

I own the older 1001rb and just bought the new 1001rb mkII and yeah if you want something with Kick and bottom end Go for the 1001rb II....All I can Say is It is as loud as HELL!!!!.... will make the swr 750x whimper in its tracks!!! Buy Far the best amp I have ever herd or played through!!! Totally AMAZING!!!!
