GK Backline 600 question

Does anyone know if the Effects Loop "Return" can be used as a secondary input on the BL600?

I used to have a 700RB-II and could plug my drum machine into the Effects Loop Return jack to play along with while practicing. Can this be done on the BL600 without affecting the primary input?

Hey dude, i'm not sure how much I can help, but I can tell you that I've recently started running my bass directly into the return loop. The effects loops is right before the poweramp and after the pre
amp, so any changes to the eq or channel vol will not change what is running into the effects loop. I've got active pickups so the bass has a preamp built in. I love the natural sound when bypassing the gk's very charactered preamp (though if you run it truly flat it certainly dampens that). I also run a vt bass pedal inti the effects return as well. The only thing I have a question about is clipping, but I just check my level in the input then plug into the effects return. Hope this helps a little anyway.

It'll work, so long as the drum maching puts out "line level". Otherwise, it may be difficult to hear it. You won't hurt anything either way.

try it. if i remember correctly, inserting into the effects return defeats the main input. you'd insert into the effects SEND to blend two signals. i used to blend a sidechained RPM in this manner.

you could put it into the loop as an effect though, best done with a blender - pass the bass through the blender pedal from the effect send, then insert the drum machine into the second input of the blender before sending the blender output back to the return of the loop.

Im not sure if this is helpfull but i know my 400rb does not. If it does not work on the backline 600 you could probably use some sort of spitter jack to give the amp a second input

I don't have the BL600 yet otherwise I'd try it.

Thanks for the tip on the blender though - that would be a good solution.

No, it cannot. Unless you can Send to the drum machine and have it return both signals. I use the Return input to play our intro bit before our shows (via mp3 player) and I have to unplug it before I can start playing.
