GK biamp system using stompbox fuzz

I'm in the process of assembling a set of matching Gallien-Kruger amp heads and cabs to use their bi-amp system and I had a question about how my Big Muff pedal will affect the cab's tweeter.

I know the biamp is supposed to keep the amplifier's distortion out of the horn, but would it keep my effects from ruining the tweeter? And would putting my pedals through the effects loop remedy any potential problem?

No. If there's a separate loop for the low frequency amp then it would be safe.

I'd NOT use the fx loop for a stomp box, as they run at different levels, (usually line level), but I don't think you'll ruin your tweeter with fuzz if used properly. With the biamp capability, you could turn the tweeter down a bit, and not worry.

I can check tonight by hooking my distortion both through the effects loop and via the main input and varying woofer and tweeter volumes.

I've used distortion for a couple of years with my GK 700RB-II and Neo 2x12 in biamp mode and I've not had any problems with my tweeter. Of course, I only run the tweeter at about 20%.

I don't think there's separate loops for the 2 amps, the biamp thing comes after all that stuff. You'd still have to adjust tone on the pedals, turn down the tweeter amp, etc.

You could set the amp to biamp and run the crossover way high (5k I think it goes to? Somebody correct me there) and then just leave the tweeter amp way down or off.

Anything either in front of the amp or in the effects loop will hit both the tweeter and woofer amps. (Assuming of course it's producing sounds in the relevant frequencies.) The amp has no way of 'knowing' that you're using a fuzz and so applying any filtering.
