Thanks for all your input guys. I'm a relatively newbie needing a better amp because we're getting gig popular. I'm buying the 210 today because the 212 is unavailable. I'm replacing my Fender Rumble 100. Can I use the Rumble as a slave to the 210 and get some use out of it?
wouldn't recommend it. i highly doubt that the cab in your fender rumble is 8 ohms which is what you need with the MB210.
Also, the fender rumbler is 100 watts, the MB210 will be sending 250 watts to your cab in your fender. it may not be able to handle that.
if you want you can get an A/B box or line selector and use both of the amps simultaneously but NO, you CANNOT slave your fender to the mb210
the 115MBE that is made to accompany the combo has not been released yet. might be a tough hunt.

One last thought here....with plenty of gig time on the MB212, it has opened up as much as it is going to on the low end. It has nearly caught up with the MB210+115 volume-wise. I still prefer the MB212's tone because it has more of the "GK sound" which, to me, is tied to the mids. I don't know what they did (if anything) between the 210 and the 212, but the 210 is all about the lows and the 212 has a more "balanced" sound IMO. It has literally knocked out much more expensive gear on my gig.

If I ever get back into LOUD gigs, I "think" the MB212 will handle them, but you never know for sure 'til you're there. I will hang on to the MB210 and the Trace 15 cab for the time being. There is an outdoor gig coming up that might require some more firepower!

about the MB212 live. Could you compare the sound to the sound that you'd hear in a studio, coming back through the mains, if it was just bass into limiter into the board direct.? From what I've read, I gather the 212 is better at it than the 210 and a 1-15 combined.
Azure, if that's what you're going for, I'd recommend MarkBass. The closest I've ever gotten to what you want was when I ran a MarkBass SD800 into an Epifani UL410. Oh, and it was LOUD too.
I tried a MB212 yesterday at a local music store. I did really like the tone. I going to go back with one or two of my own basses to try it again.
this all makes me wish i'd gotten the mb212 instead of the mb210... dammit.

Nah dude, I think you got the right one. Make no mistake, the MB210 with an ext. cab IS louder than the MB212....and especially with that 410 you've been talking about!

My BL600 head and twin 2-10 Avatar cabs have been collecting dust since I got my MB115. This little combo is plenty enough for stage volume on pretty much all the gigs I play (small clubs w/ decent PA systems).
Surprised the hell out of me.
I was even thinking now of selling the big rig and buying an MB212 for any shows where I want or might (?) need more horsepower. Outdoor shows, etc.
These combos are real competition killers in their price range, IMO.

Mr. Gallien keeps in touch here, I have thanked him for these little monsters. If someone told me a year ago I'd be selling my Bergie AE410 in favor of a combo, I would've said they were crazy.

I hate to see you second-guessing yourself on this, and other threads. The differences between it and the MB212 are subtle. You might hear the 212 and think it sounds too 'middy'! Doesn't matter, you got the one you could afford and it has the option of adding a cab where the 212 won't let you do that. Enjoy it!!
that's exactly the conclusion i came to today.
you know, different strokes for different folks. I actually really love my MB210. Who knows, the MB212 might work better for you but not for me.

YaY!!! It's so easy to get caught up in other people's stuff here on TB. It works for YOU and that's all that matters!
Also, I was thinking about your wanting to add a 410 to the MB210. Actually, the 410 could be easier on the internal 2-10s than a 210 cab. My reasoning? The internal 210s will only see a max of 250 watts no matter what cab you hook up. However, if that cab happens to be more efficient (i.e. more speaker cone area) you won't have to turn up as much to obtain a given volume, thus the internal speakers aren't pushed as hard.
