At the end of the set, I plug in the tuner to the headphones jack which acts as a mute. Coming back to play again it's ready to tune quietly, then you just pull the plug and you're ready to rock! It does pop but it's not terribly loud.

My MB212 is fully broken in now and if it were possible, I would have halted the break in a few weeks ago. I'm dialing back the lows ever so slightly but it just sounded better to me when it was newer. This is a very subtle thing, not a big deal at all...most players will like it better after it's broken in but I don't like big lows as much as most folks. Hard to believe a little 38 pound combo could put out sound like this.

I was at GC yesterday and tried out the MB210. I was very disappointed with it. I'm thinking the speakers were blown. It sound like I had a distortion pedal effect going on. The more I read about these amps the more it looks like this amp is more of a toy then a gigging amp.

I can't disagree more with this. It sounds like you definitely had either a blown speaker in the one you tried.

It depends on what kind of gig your playing I suppose but this is definitely a pro amp! It's definitely built to gig. You just have to be realistic. It's a 210... it's not going to sound like a 410...

That being said, as far as 210s go, this thing holds up better than most I've tried to be honest.

I can't say enough good things about the MB210 and from what I've seen, people can't say enough about the MB212 either.

I'd recommend giving it another try. This amp is both a toy and a gigging amp simultaneously I would say haha.

In short, this amp is perfect! (again, keeping in mind that it's only a 210... so expectations should be realistic)

this has been covered many many many times. (a quick and simple search probably would have provided more than sufficient answers)

but as tallbassboy said, NO, the MB212 cannot run an extension and is 4 ohms

Considering where it was - the speakers could have been blown, or the settings could have been all wacked. This is a tight, clean sounding amp.

Last gig Gain was about 2 o'clock, as were treble and high mids, low mids and bass were about 11 o'clock, boost about noon and master about the same. I'm playing a "jazz" with humbuckers and flats. Didn't have my wireless so my adjustments were based on being right in front of the cab, which always sounds different then being out in the room but the band seemed happy with the tone, at least they didn't complain. Going for a 60's old school blues/R&B tone BTW.

Yes I'm in passive input. All my basses are passive. My Fernandes "jazz" is an extremely bright, resonant body, I usually keep the treble roll all or almost all the way off. I'll be interested in hearing the comments on your results with that setting.

It may have been a volume thing also as I've found that it sounds quite different at low volume, I will run it on the active input if I'm doing something really low volume so I can keep the power settings up on the amp. One thing I've noticed is that the active input drops volume more then the pad button on my Backline 600 does. Almost makes this a dual purpose amp though I don't get many low volume gigs.

Hey Butch, I didn't try your setting this weekend....of course I'm gigging with the MB212 these days so it would be different.

I noticed another bump in lows this weekend! I swear it's still breaking-in so the settings are changing:

Bass - 11:15
Low Mids - 12:30
High Mids - 12:30
Highs - 12:00

Gain & Boost - 12:00
Contour & Tweeter - Off
Limiter - On
Master Volume - 9:30!!!

It may be time to A/B the MB212 against the MB210+115 again. I think the MB212 is catching up!! :eek:
