GK Fusion 550 master vol. crackling/static

Hey TB, I have a Fusion 550 and the Master volume crackles like mad whenever I touch it to turn up or down, I mean really bad static and popping to the point where if I'm not careful, it sounds like I may possibly blow my speaker out. (All the other controls are perfectly fine). My master volume (for the most part) never goes past the 9 o'clock position); but whenever I touch it ever so slightly, that happens. That, and everytime I first turn it on, after 5 minutes or so the volume (all on it's own) just goes down say like 1/4 or 1/3, then after say about 3-5 minutes it'll come back to normal volume (very weird); but other than that, it's perfectly fine until whenever I shut it down/off. Anyone ever heard/experience anything like that before? Initially I thought it just may need a little tuner cleaner (I haven't tried it yet), but I think it's a little more serious than that because of the weird losing volume thing that happens. 'Sound familiar to anyone? Thanks in advance.

IIRC, that model uses motorized pots which are expensive and may be somewhat proprietary to GK’s design.

Never use tuner cleaner anywhere near pots unless you want to learn how expensive the follow-up repair is. It is however a great and efficient way to ruin a set of pots.

Thus is an amp the should go to a QUALIFIED GK service center that is experienced with this model. It’s unique enough that most techs will struggle with it.

Thank You kindly Sir, Much Appreciated ... now to find a "Qualified" GK service tech (experienced with the Fusion 550) in Northern New Jersey:laugh:
