GK Head vs Mark II

Greetings

Can anyone tell me if the GK might be more warmer than the Mark
II.

I'm finding it a bit sterile I'm looking for a more tubeish tone

Any suggestion???

I have a LMII and a 1001RBII, I wouldn't say the GK Is warmer, maybe dirtier but not warmer.

My sd800 is much warmer that the gk1001rbII i had.

I find the Markbass to be warmer but that's IMO. It is a little subjective though. Both are punchy, that's for sure.

If you're looking for a more tube-like sound, why not go with something like a Sansamp rather than trading out your head altogether? 800rbs are nice amps.

I find using the 2 filters helps get a tubey type tone.
I put the Far right one -the VPF on 2/3-3/4( 1-3 o'clock) & the VLE- on about 1/4( 3 oclock). & +1 re the sansamp-or even try the -dare I say it- Behringer BDDI21(a Sansamp copy) it's quite good for the price & can add a bit of grit/dirt even a li'l 'warmth' to yr MB LMII.

Ive got a GK 1001RBII and SA450 and the MB is warmer than the GK.
But i think the GK has more character and im really getting to like it after a few gigs.
The SA450 does seem to have a nice clear tone though and you can get a lot of different tones out of it thanks to the filters but i dont find it has the bite of the GK

I have a sansamp and forgot about it.

Gallien isn't as warm but it does have more punch and is much better for Rock which I play a lot of.

Mark bass is great but the dollars to watts ratio killed it for me. Plus I feel that Gallien is a little more ergonomic. Plus stingrays are great with GK especially.

I just know ther are a ton of TB members who have the combination and it works well for me. Actually, for flea too.

Good idea, try a bunch of pre amps. That may be the better thing to do for your pocket book. If you must have a tube sound, I'd say try and find a SVT2. They're pricey and heavy but they have tone for days.

Yeah I have both the 1001RB GK and the MB LMII ... pretty much agree the Mark is warmer and I like it real well with the very revealing EA VL-208 cab ... thr GKs though get my vote as best all around.


... I have a GK 400RBIII too, and it's warmer than the 1001RB.
