This lighweight (26lb) amp appears to be what many EUB and AUB play through for small gigs and rehearsals and I will probably buy 1 next week. The question is...If I also purchase 2 of the MBX 112 cabinets, is that going to cut the mustard for medium sized rooms with my 6 piece latin band with drums, percussion, etc??? What a backsaver this rig would be...I also would use it for my Roscoe 5 string.

You can only use one of the extension cabinets without risking serious damage to the amplifier. The internal speaker is 8 ohms and so is the extension speaker. This equals the 4 ohm minimum load recommended for this amp.
This rig can get fairly loud but will most likely not be loud enough for every situation. You might get away with it if you can run a line out to the PA.

I've been using the Clarus/Wizzy combination with my EUB and electric bass...lots of volume out of that small cab. I think one Wizzy and a Clarus would have as much volume as the GK combo plus the extension...and probably better sound, too.

I've just bought a GK MB150E Series III and love it. I haven't used it yet for a sitution requiring high volume. However, note that the current model's internal speaker is 8 ohms and this can be used in conjunction with an external 8 ohm speaker for a total load of 4 ohms. (You can download the user manual at the GK web site). You can also use the back panel switch to turn off the internal speaker and attach two external 8 ohm speakers, such as two MB 112 cabinets. You would have more flexibility in placing the components this way but the overall power/sound output would be no greater than with only one of the external speakers. Good luck

just ordered a mb150

i'm stoked

That's cool, congrat's.

I've know about those amps for a long time, but never seen one in person. My buddy and I were making the music store rounds today and I saw a couple of them, they are even smaller than I thought they would be. I was surprised. I kept looking and didln't look like a 12" but label said 1x12". Only thing weird to me was tapping the cabinet and hearing a plink instead of thud of wood. That would take me a little getting used to, but if it sounds good and easy to carry, all is good. :D

I just got my 150s series one. I'm in love with it. I'm not a huge amp expert but I love the feel and sound of the Spirocore E and A when played with the Bass at 12 the Mid at 10 the High mid at 10 and the Treble at 12 and the limiter and 7. So nice and warm. There's a certain presence there that just moves you

Now off to address the ugly Spirocore G situation... hit me up on the string side... i'll be haunting there for a while
