I haven't had any problems with the knobs but, then again, I don't have my bag yet. I'm the kind of guy who it might bother to have loose knobs, but so far it hasn't caused me to seek a prescription for xanax.

Hey Munj,
How do you like this head compared to the Glock Blue Soul. I imagine the slam is about the same (with maybe the tie breaker going to the Glock), and I assume the Glock is cleaner up top (from my experience with the MBF500). Seems like they would be somewhat overlapping in application.
Waaaaait a minute... are you SURE?? I'm under the impression those knobs only change function when the amp has power. Those are membrane switches to electronic inputs, not hardware switches... at least as I recall... are you sure you're not just forgetting how you had it set last sometimes?

He is talking about the very loose pots moving in the bag...i.e., knob position. Not a huge deal, but I hate those loose push/pulls nonetheless.

Ah, that is strange. My only issue with those 'loose pots' is that it is hard to do quick adjustments to them, and they tend to move a lot in the bag.
So, you are talking about the push/pull actually being engaged. Never heard of that before.
Yeah, and it's not actually push/pull. it's just push... and i don't remember thinking it felt mechanical, which I'd think it'd have to be for Chef's problem. Strange.

I haven't even explored the B channel yet or even the manual for that matter. I guess I fear commitment.

Chef, I play a lot in my living room for short intervals. Turn the amp off and on a lot. When ever I turn it back on, it is always A.
I think that it is set to revert to A every time it is turned off which is annoying.
It also seems revert to a base contour setting......

I ordered my MFB800 yesterday! I've never really played with GK gear before but I'm really excited!
They do overlap. What I like on the MBF800 is its dual mid range control. As we've discussed previously, it'd be nice to have a control somewhere in the 700hz to 1,200hz range on the Blue Soul. The cleanliness up top is probably due to the BS's two high-frequency controls. I don't mess with the high one that much. As far as slam, it's hard to say. I've never really cranked either one of them past, say, noon and noon, but the MBF got as loud as I wanted at my last gig. As an aside, the CN212 seems to sound better and better as you bring up the gain. Definitely a slamming cab.
I played the MBF800/CN212 last weekend and, if I take a rig for my gig this weekend, I may take the Blue Soul with my AE210 (it's my acoustic trio outdoors). I'll get some mileage out of both of them.
Makes sense. Once you get past 500 watts or so, if you are using a relatively small cab (212, 410, etc.), it really doesn't matter much. The MB heads definitely are not as 'clean' up top, but I don't think any head is as 'clean' up top as the Glock stuff. This is a blessing and a curse, depending on what you are going for.

I am loving this amp.
However, I do think this is a design flaw. You should be able to turn the amp on and have the settings be the same as when you turned it off.
I would be glad to be wrong about this if someone else finds out differently.

Dual use knobs tested:
Powered up (amp came up on Channel A)
Set amp to channel B, activated contour shift, bright and deep
Powered down
Powered back up:
Amp set to Channel A; contour, bright and deep all off.
I repeated this three times:
same result.
So; the amp re-sets on power down.
I take it back, about buttons getting joggled in the bag.
I get it now; I can live with the amp re-setting to baseline.
If I'd read the manual, it might have clearly stated this;
so, it may be the fact that I'm Part Moron that's responsible for my misunderstanding.
