This is one issue I've never had with the Max 9.2, those knurled knobs are easy to grab and change on the fly. Plus they don't spin around all loosey goosey. Still, the GK MB Fusion has something really going on in the tone department that the Max does not really have in it's DNA.

A preset starting tone signature, providing standard starting point from which to fine tune, may be a defensible, thoughtful feature from my perspective. Most players make these adjustments, anyway. It's part of the tone-tweaker's mantra: "Start with flat eq, and make a couple of slight adjustments." If the MBF-800 bakes the starting points in, saving the step of manually resetting knobs flat every time, I might like that.

Sorry, but I'm actually glad that the channel switch resets. I prefer the A channel most of the time, and only use the B side on occasion. Having it revert at the end of the gig, saves me from wondering why my gain structure is all snarled up, the next time I turn it on...

I don't do the "B-Channel as an alternate gritty tone," so, that doesn't apply to me.

This only bothered me when I didn't understand why.
"In the bag accidental reset" is bothersome."
"Its designed that way" I can understand and readily accept, and not be bothered by.

MB800 vs MBF800

All the same as MB500 vs MBF500; which there's been plenty of.
Basically, same voicing, softened and richened a little by the tubes.
Not a huge diff, but, one I like very much, and,
"given that there is the MBF series, I have a strong preference for that."
If there was no MBF, I'd use the MB, and be pretty happy about it.

They probably do to some minor extent.
I may (probably?) am mis-remembering this, but I think that diif b/t MB500 andMB800 was because RAG thought the change to the 800 made it do it's OD thing a little nicer.

Being an active OD Hater, that's not a diff I explored, at all. :D
I don't do that with the MBF's either.

Ick ;)

I tested the MB500 and 800 back-to-back when I was shopping. At equal volumes short of overdrive, the discrete-FET front end makes the 800 sound a little more open, and less "transistory" at the top end than the 500.

Not a really significant difference, to be honest. I mainly chose the 800 because of the extra headroom.
