I did not engage the pad.
That Valenti is "basically a Sadowsky RV5JJ" clone.
Sadowsky single coil pickups and preamp; so, it's "a slightly hotter than average bass" in terms of output.

I'm wondering about the current Fusion 500 owners who are using the 400 watt GK cabs. Those match up pretty good. If they move up to the 800 watt head, will new cabs be needed also? That adds to the total trade-up cost. Anyone using the 800 watt Fusion into the GK 400 watt speakers?
Second question - how is the DI? Is it good or are you using a mike?

If the GK cabs are 8-ohm, you'll be fine. The MBF800 puts out 500 watts at that impedance, so it's perfect. If you have 4-ohm, 400-watt cabs it'll work just fine, too, but you'll have to be more judicious in the manipulation of your gain structure. Just don't crank it too far.

So I've gigged my newish MB800F a few dozen times. Love the tone at low volumes- able to dial "me" right up. I've found I agree with the "tonally flat" eq settings.

Anyone having the problem with the tone changing with volume? Maybe it's just my ears, but articulation and mid punch seems to die w/ dB and I'm left with this huge bottom and almost a glassy hi bite. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that bottom end but when I dig in, it's just not "there" and I no longer cut in the mix.

I'm using Epifani cabs (210 and sometimes an additional 115) and an active jazz bass 5er...oh, and some URB as well.

Any suggestions from the brain-trust?

I thought about the MB Fusion 800 when I bought my MB Fusion 500. I decided I just didn't need to move that much air. Even playing outdoors the MB Fusion 500 is enough for me. Congrats on the new amp.

My MB Fusion 800 sounds excellent paired with my 4 ohm Xsonics 1155TF which is loaded with a Peavey 1502-4 DT BW woofer and Faital 5M8N-80 mid crossed at 1500 hz. The Peavey woofer is only rated 350 wrms, 700 program, 1400 peak but this cab takes the MBF800 output fine with everything at noon and is L-O-U-D for a compact 115. I want to see how the Peavey 1505-8 DT which has a higher xmax but similar power handling sounds in comparison. This would be an 8 ohm build with the same mid and crossover point so I'm hoping the MBF800 won't dissapoint as 500 watts into 8 ohms should be ideal and provide plenty of headroom.

I wouldn't think of it - hate that magic white smoke. I was just pleasantly surprised that it kicks the way it does with the settings at half. I definitely wouldn't push it harder. 8 ohms would be more forgiving for the cab, I'm just hoping that the MBF800 has enough clean headroom at 8 ohms to drive that cab for what it's worth without excessive distortion. I've got the Eminence 3015 to swap in there as well.

It seems to me that the GK stuff "breaks up earlier at 8 ohms vs 4 ohms."
So the 800 works better for me at 8 ohms as it has more watts at 8 ohms.

I may be the only one that hears this,

At 8ohms, it's pretty easy to run out of headroom when the 350watt output of the MBF500 is paired with some of the newer low-efficiency, high power 8ohm cabs. I heard it too.

It can happen at 4ohms too, if you're into cabs with 3012 or 3015LF's. That was what drove me from the MB500 to the MB800.
