gk mb112 + mpb112 or second mb112

sorry if this has been discussed to death already.

just picked up the new mb112 combo (hats off GK sounds great) but it's clear I'm going to need more output. it looks like the 112 powered cab is only slightly cheaper than a second combo.

I don't mind a few extra cables or a split so why not get a second mb112 instead of the mbp?

opinions? I've never actually run two combos like that so maybe I'm missing something important (I often miss important details :)

the closest music store to me is about 1400 miles away so no checking it out before I buy.

thanks!!

I don't know why you would run two combos together, but I'm not a tech guy. I'm considering the MB112-II + MBP112 as well. I guess one of the benefits of two combos is that you could keep one at home and one at your rehearsal space, but I don't know if that's relevant.

hey same reason I would add the mpb112. more power more speaker more volume.

just seems like for the minimal price difference I get second usable combo + I suppose one could eq the two pre sections differently then each other though I can't see the point there really.

I understand I would need to split the output of the bass to the two combos.

just wondering if there are any big downsides to this that I can't see.

thanks!

I don't think this is necessarily true. There are many posts here about daisy chaining these combos by patching the active in from one to the passive in on the other. Yes, using two input jacks! It's counter intuitive but works great by all accounts. Unless GK has changed this in the second generation line, it should still be easily done without extra gear.

That's pretty cool.

that's pretty cool though the mb112 has only one input. just got an email from another player who says I need to check out the new mb212 before I do anything else. she claims it's the end all be all for small combos. might just keep the 112 for the smaller gigs and go for the 212 when needed.

cheers all!

The MB112ii does not have a second input jack, but you can use the line out xlr to a 1/4" plug into your second amp. Or, use that same patch from the 112ii's 'chain out.' I've done that plenty of times with my MB115 as a slave. Run it flat, do any tweaks at the first amp to your taste or room needs..
