GK MB200 no more?

Saw this over at Sweetwater:

I know the MB500 is long gone, but this was a surprise.

Suffice to say that if it were profitable to do so, they would still be selling that model. Either....

1)... it didn't sell very well. Or....
2) ...it wasn't a profitable piece to sell to begin with.

These days another explanation is possible. They were unable to continue sourcing the parts to make that model.

On the GK website, all the MB heads except the 200 are listed as discontinued.

No longer available at GC or MF, either.

Reverb has only one right now It's used and selling over MSRP.

eBay also has only a few and all are used.

Great little amp! I use one as a practice head , and it gets a lot of use. Mine developed the famous pink ring of doom , and I looked around at other heads for a possible replacement. Decided the MB200 perfectly filled my needs. I had it repaired by a qualified tech , and it’s back to being used a lot.
I really like that little head!

Robert Gallien said in the GK club thread that the MB200 along with the microbass combo and RB heads are being updated and released later this year. Looking forward to seeing those!

They have been made in the U.S. It may be that they are moving production to another location. That, or the years-long drought of electronics components may be delaying manufacturing.

Made in US, then made in China, then back to US...what's next?

I'm just surprised they're gone, at least for now. A reboot of the RBs would be welcome.

I think the MB200 occupies a solid little niche in the GK lineup , and they’ve certainly sold a lot of them.
And many that have bought them really love them.

I love the MB-200! It’s the only head I use now! I have three of them.
Two of them in use in my stereo rig. One for a spare or light duty gigs.

I have two of them..one USA and one China. Use the USA last Saturday at an outside town festival with a pair of GK 112's and it did a splendid job. Plenty of headroom with the gain about 11 o'clock. Keeping both of them, too.

Mine died a little while ago and I was looking around for a replacement , came to the conclusion that it was the perfect amp for my practice needs , and that if I had to replace it I’d simply buy another.
Thankfully the repair was successful.

I just discovered this issue -- hope they bring it back, it's a great sounding little amp that punches above its weight class.

I love mine, served as a backup for 8 years,now used as part of a small practice pa. I'm sure they will follow mesa boogies lead of the d350 and make a slightly larger more expensive model to match.

I had the MB500, great little head, and I gigged it plenty. Eventually sold it, went back to my larger head.

I suspect a product update will be coming. IMO that little head served a niche function in the market space for GK loyalists and has been a notable success in the compact, but capable class D world. I've enjoyed mine.
