Absolutely send it back if it hisses...I don't know if only some of the first runs had hiss, or if people are still getting brand new units that hiss, but it should be dead quiet.

GK mb200 ultra light head?

Is the hiss that people are having problems with one that goes away if the volume is turned down?
I run through an EBS multicomp - I notice a TINY bit of noise with the MB200 gain at 12:00 - wouldn't notice it without ear next to the speaker. It goes up a good bit when I engage the Multicomp. BUT when I A/B against my GB Shuttle 3.0 head (same speaker, bass, pedal chain), I hear no noise, with or without the compressor.
People in the thread are talking about a constant hiss, regardless of volume. Mine definitely goes away when I cut the volume.

It's been almost a month and you haven't called back to check?I got a hissy one. Called GK and they said to send it back as a "warranty" repair. It's been almost a month and I haven't heard anything.
Hi, I also ahve an EBS multicomp (can't live without it). I also have plans to get a MB200 (waiting to be available, currently Out of Stock everywhere).
Question - How work the Multicomp with this little Amp?, does it improves the sound a lot?

As I said, the noise from the MB200 is almost unnoticeable unless I'm RIGHT UP AGAINST the speaker with my ear. Add the Multicomp and the level of noise coming out of the speaker increases considerably. Do the same test with Genz Benz shuttle 3.0 head and I get less/no noise without the Multicomp and almost no increase at all with it.
I don't know if the noise from the MB200 even counts as hiss (without the multicomp) it's so small - it may just be extra treble in the EQ of the head or the inherent differences in the gain/master volume levels going to the cabinet.
So there is your answer to "how does the multicomp work with this amp", based on my experience (I've had the amp about a month and didn't notice the noise until this morning, so clear, it's borderline non-existent). And while I love the multicomp, I'm not sure I'd EVER say it improves the sound "a lot" even under the best of circumstances. Right now, I'm not sure the pedal and amp are matching up the way I'd like.

As a comparison, with volume up half, and my EQ set at noon, I don't even know its on until I play a note. Its the quietest GK I have ever had. My first one hissed the same amount, regardless of volume.
Okay, I'll assume that everything is okay, since my volume knob DEFINITELY makes a difference in the amount of hiss I get. I'll just chalk the rest of the noise up to "marginal interaction with the Multicomp." As I said, I'm comparing noise levels on two amps with my ear less than a foot away from the grill of the speaker cab (a Hartke Hydrive 112).
I did yesterday but havent heard back yet. It's been more like 3 weeks because that includes shipping time. I'm more annoyed that it was treated as a warranty repair since it was bought that way. Otoh I used it for a few months before I called. I thought I could live with the hiss but it started to annoy me more and more.
Yep, it's being handled that way because of the time you had it before reporting the problem. I'd say try again, and make sure you get someone on the phone. I assume from your comment above you just emailed them. I strongly suggest you call.
I'll give my new MB200 some more praise, I had been using a VT Bass inline, it really perks up my practice amp and makes the yorkie sound sooo smooth, I use it always on my friends Peavey Firebass 700 w/810, but I really don't feel I need it with the GK. Great tone. Makes me wonder what the bigger brothers sound like. I'm glad I gave GK a second chance because I really didn't care for the MB212.
I think that's a pretty good turnaround time. GK has been good to deal with!
Yup, call em and send it back. Amps shouldn't hiss, especially an amp like this where you have fixed gain structure...

I hate it when a company beta tests products on paying customers. It is a nifty little amp though.
Hopefully I'm the only one that had to wait that long.
Yes, every time they send out an RMA...I have waited a while for that. It's the last thing you need before sending it out.
