GK MBE410 Discontinued

Hissing should be an Issue for me if it's not excessively loud. I am in the market for a new bass cab and I was looking at the gallien-krueger mbe410 bass cab. I've read some good things about this bass cab. I don't think I've read anything about this cab having hissing issues except for the mbe210 and the mbe115. I was thinking of getting the fender rumble 410 bass cab, but I was informed that it's a 4-ohm bass cab and I needed an 8-ohm bass cab and so far the mbe410 is probably just what I've been looking for.

I have no problem with it. Someone mentioned it's more prevalent with active basses, but that's one opinion (and it could be partly due to his pickups). Who knows if these people have messed around enough with the EG/bass settings anyway.

Got mine 3 months ago. Great choice!

It would be nice if more posted on this cab,....but most here seem to have the more expensive 410 NEO'S.

For $150 extra, it is debatable, since many are dissatisfied with this particular horn. I've read several posters here complaining about 'hiss'. I have it, there's some hiss, but not enough to bother me, especially since I don't have it on most of the time.

For recording, though, it may be an issue.

Thanks for the threads. I would of figured that the cab has an option to turn the horn on and off. if the horn is really useless, I'll just leave it off. no problem.

Anyone interested in stuffing it may want to look at this thread:

I have a version with the horn, there is a simple on/off switch, but I wish there was a volume pot of some sort. If you're handy with a soldering iron, there's a mod that can be done that will lower the volume in half. PM me your e-mail address if you're interested.

I haven't done the horn mod myself because I personally don't find my horn to hiss at all, but I play with a passive P bass with flats. It certainly adds some brightness that I'm not very fond of so I just leave it off, but it would be useful for loud gigs.

The mbe410 hasn't been discontinued. it's still available on every on-line music store. there are 2 different kinds of mbe410 bass cabs. there's a horn version(which means it has a horn built-in), and a non-horn version. the non-horn version is currently back-ordered. the horn version on the other hand is still currently in stock. it's available in a 4-ohm version and an 8-ohm version. I plan to buy the 8-ohm mbe410 bass cab real soon. I think it make an excellent match for my gallien-kueger 700rb-II bass head.

I have 2 of the 400watt cabs being driven with a 700rb-ii and it is GREAT!!
wow.....what a change from being "discontinued" to having wattage and horn option(s) ?

I wasn't even aware that there were any besides the
800W w/horn ( $400-450 range )

lol true... I wasn't aware of the non horn version either.... i generally turn the horns off but sometimes i will turn my top cab horn on... it works in a band setting.. alone, its kind of annoying

The last post was over a year ago so I am asking...

I am looking at the different GK cabs right now. I noticed that the 410MBE is listed as:
  • 8 ohms
  • 800 watts
  • Four 10" neodymium speakers
  • 41lb

And the price is $299. Sounds like a great deal. If anyone has this model, how does it compare to the NEO line? Of course there is no horn, but that would not matter to me. Are they the same drivers as the NEO line?

I'd say order before they realize they are selling the 800 watt neo loaded cab for the 400 watt ceramic price. The neo 10"s are the same as the NEO line.
