GK Neo 212 vs Ampeg PF cabs?

I've read a ton of threads on the different PF cabs. I'm thinking about pickup up a 115he, but I wondering if my GK neo 212 might compare. I also have a Fender Rumble 115 that I leave in my practice space.

Has anyone tried both these cabinets or the Rumble 115 with a PF800 head?

A single 115he or Rumble vs. a GK Neo 212? The GK will easily destroy either of those cabs. And GK uses top quality Neo drivers made in the USA, while Fender and Ampeg use Chinese made drivers. Not sure about the Rumble, but the Ampeg is a ceramic mag driver so it weighs quite a bit.

Having two speakers in a cab that you like the sound of always gives it an advantage over single speaker cabs. That said, a lot of single speaker cabs sound great too, and in the case of the PF115 cabs, can take a pretty good thrashing, too. I used to have a PF115he and ran it with a PF350, and it could certainly go up loud enough to get me fired from a respectable gig within seconds

Thanks the reply. I've seen you name all over PF posts I've read, as was hoping you'd respond. If I'm not concerned about volume, as I always have PA support, how would the low end compare on the Neo & he cabinets. Going a step further, how about the Neo to the 115LF or 410HLF

That I couldn't tell you. Don't recall ever playing through the Neo 212.

Those GKs are great. One day I will likely have a 412 again, or a pair of the 212s. I only sold the 412 because at the time I needed the space and the cash more than the cab, and it also wasn't in great shape physically so I figured I could also just get a nicer one down the line.

Thanks for the replies. My PF800 head will be here tomorrow, and I'll get to give it a go with my GK212.

I always like to buy gear, so If the Ampeg cabs have their own sound I may consider them.

Old thread, I know, but any update by chance? I’m in a similar predicament - I ordered a GK NEO 212 after falling in love with my PF500 + GK NEO 210, but I kinda want to try the PF 15 cabs instead of the 212.

I ended up selling my NEO 212, not that there was anything wrong with it. To me the low end was punchy, but not that full. I paired my PF800 with a Mesa Subway 115 and a fEARful 15/6/1 and that was a much different sound for my 90's alterative rock band. I still have the same set up years later, but I did add a Mesa WD800 into the mix. I use them both.
